The Months had passed since Ryo's birth, and the once peaceful shrine had become a whirlwind of chaos, courtesy of their now 6-month-old son. Ryo had recently discovered the joy of crawling, and with his boundless energy as a half-human, half-cursed spirit baby, there was no stopping him.
Shirogane and Uraume, bless their souls, had unofficially become Ryo's full-time babysitters. Wherever the baby went, chaos followed. Ryo loved to crawl at lightning speed, disappearing from one corner of the shrine to the other in the blink of an eye. Shirogane would often find himself running after the little troublemaker, only for Ryo to give him a mischievous grin before darting away again.
"I swear, he's faster than most of Sukuna-sama's cursed techniques," Shirogane grumbled one afternoon as he spotted Ryo attempting to crawl up the steps of the shrine. "I'm a bodyguard, not a babysitter..."
"Shirogane, he's only a baby," Uraume said, trying to hide their amusement as they set down the tea. But even they had spent the better part of the day chasing after the energetic child, clearly exhausted. "A very... lively baby." { beta reader: sigh children }
Lively was an understatement.
Ryo had discovered that he could crawl anywhere, and he intended to conquer every inch of the shrine. But nothing compared to what happened one fateful afternoon when Sayako entered their shared room to check on Sukuna and Ryo, only to find a sight that almost made her drop her tea.
There, in front of the massive wooden closet, was Ryo... somehow managing to climb the shelves like a little cursed monkey. His chubby little hands gripped the edge of the closet, and he was steadily making his way up with impressive determination. { beta reader: ....bro what }
But what really made her freeze wasn't Ryo's climbing, it was Sukuna, standing next to the closet, arms crossed, cheering him on.
"Come on, boy!" Sukuna's deep voice boomed with encouragement. "You're almost at the top! Show them what you're made of, Ryo!" { beta reader: he's lost his mind }
Sayako stood in the doorway, her mouth open in disbelief. "SUKUNA!? WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING?!"
Sukuna, who hadn't noticed her, glanced over with a proud grin. "Look at him, Sayako! Our son's got real spirit! He's already climbing higher than any ordinary kid."
Sayako blinked, trying to process what she was seeing. "You... you're encouraging him to climb the closet?"
Sukuna shrugged, clearly unfazed. "Why not? It builds strength."
"He's six months old," Sayako said, exasperated. She hurried over and scooped Ryo up before he could tumble down, much to the baby's disappointment. Ryo let out a little protest, his tiny fists waving in the air as if to say, "I was doing great!"
Sukuna chuckled, clearly amused by both his wife and son. "He's fine, woman. You worry too much." { beta reader: and you almost fucking made your child's skull crack open }
Sayako shot him a glare. "I don't think it's normal to have our baby scaling furniture like he's preparing for battle."
"He is preparing for battle," Sukuna said with a smirk. "He's my son, after all."
Sayako shook her head, trying not to smile at his ridiculous reasoning. "That doesn't mean we should let him turn the shrine into his personal obstacle course."
Ryo, now safely in Sayako's arms, looked up at his father with wide red eyes, clearly enjoying all the attention. He let out a little coo and reached for Sukuna, who, despite his earlier antics, softened immediately. He took Ryo from Sayako's arms, cradling him gently.
"Fine, fine," Sukuna said, his voice a bit softer now. "No more climbing. For today." { beta reader: you mean forever }
Sayako sighed in relief, though she couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. "You're going to be the reason he's causing chaos, aren't you?"
Sukuna grinned, kissing Ryo on the forehead. "He's already better at it than I am."
Sayako rolled her eyes playfully, though her heart was full. Despite the constant trouble Ryo caused, there was something undeniably heartwarming about seeing Sukuna embrace his role as a father, chaos and all.
As she watched them together, she couldn't help but laugh. With Sukuna as his father and Ryo as their little troublemaker, life at the shrine was going to be anything but boring.
