The next evening, Taehyung took extra time to getting ready. His excitement about meeting Ava was evident on his face. He was prepared to head to her house, but as he was putting on his jacket, his phone rang, displaying his mother’s name on the screen.

**Phone Conversation:**

**"Hello, Mom,"** he answered.

**"How are you, my son?"**

**"I'm good, Mom. Is everything okay? You don’t usually call me."**

**"It's not like that, Taehyung. You never call me. I always call you."**

**"I’m just teasing, Mom. So, what do you need this time?"**he asked with a chuckle.

**"You know, I want only one thing—to see you happy with your own family. Last week, I met an old friend, and and his daughter is lovely—"**

He interrupted her. **"Don’t start this topic again, Mom. I’ve told you many times I won’t meet anyone until I’m divorced."**

**"But it’s only two months left, Taehyung. You should start looking for someone."**

**"Mom, we’re not discussing this again. I will look for someone after the divorce. Please respect my decision."**

**"Alright, but you have to come over for dinner. I’ve made all your favorites."**

**"Not today, Mom. I’m busy."**

**"It’s Sunday, Taehyung. You’re not busy today."**

**"Actually, I—"**

**"I’m not hearing it. You’re coming over for dinner. That’s final."** She hung up.

Taehyung tugged at his hair, frustration evident on his face. A wave of guilt washed over him—not for Ava, but for someone he’d tried to leave behind. But his mother never misses a chance to bring up his marriage.

He wondered if perhaps she had moved on and wanted a divorce too. Despite everything, he had remained faithful all these years, never once seeing or communicating with anyone else.

Yet Ava’s presence had brought a level of happiness he hadn’t experienced in years.

“I’ll tell her about my marriage soon,” he resolved. “But I need to choose the right moment and ensure she understands that I have no interest in this marriage.” With a deep breath, he picked up his phone and keys, and walked out the door.

It was 10:00 p.m., and Taehyung was upset after an argument with his mother. He was running late to Ava’s house and had already found two flower shops closed. Deciding to let it go, he headed straight to her place.

He took his time climbing the stairs, the weight of his tension palpable with each step. When he finally reached her door, he paused, then rang the bell.

As Ava opened the door, her nose was filled with the faint, bold, and spicy scent of lavender, lemon, and patchouli, and then she saw a figure standing there.

Ava's heart raced when she saw him. He looked strikingly handsome, perhaps because she hadn't seen him for a week.

He wore an oversized white t-shirt that hung casually over his frame, tucked into black jeans. The blue jacket draped over his shoulders added a pop of color and an effortless charm to his look—making him even more enthralling.
