The office was quiet as Taehyung and Ava sat across from each other. His usual stack of paperwork was forgotten as they exchanged glances, and the tension between them was palpable.

Taehyung shifted in his seat, trying to focus on the document in front of him, but his attention kept drifting to Ava. She was concentrating on her phone screen, a small smile playing on her lips. He found himself drawn to that smile, a familiar warmth spreading through him. Since she had brought him coffee earlier, he had kept her in his office, claiming his secretary was out and that she needed to assist him all day. Yet, he hadn't given her any work; instead, he simply sat across from her.

Seeing her focus intently on her phone and smile like that, he couldn't help but wonder who she was talking to.

"Ava," Taehyung began, his voice low and tentative, "isn't it unprofessional to use your phone in front of your boss?"

Ava looked up, meeting his gaze. "I'm sorry. I just had to reply to a text."

"Oh? Family?" Taehyung asked, his tone more intimate than usual.

"No, a friend," she replied.

"So, what about your family?"

She tilted her head, her eyes searching his face. "What about them?" she asked.

"I mean, you never mention them. You don't live with them anymore. They must be miss you?" He explained, trying to keep the conversation going.

She sighed, her gaze dropping to the floor as if the weight of her words might pull her down further. "My family... there's no one who misses me," she said, her voice heavy with a mixture of sorrow and resignation. "My parents and brother died when I was just a child. After that, I lived with my grandfather, who loved me dearly, but he passed away a few years ago. Now I'm with my uncle's family, but it's like I'm invisible to them. No matter how much I try to fit in, it's as if I'm always standing just outside their circle, never quite belonging."

"I'm sorry," Taehyung said, a pang of hurt in his chest as he listened to her story. "I didn't realize what you were going through. It must be really tough. But try not to lose hope. There could be someone who truly values you and misses your presence when you're not around," he said, the unspoken truth hanging in the air-he was the one who missed her the most in her absence.

She averted her gaze, her emotions clearly at a loss for words.

As Taehyung's phone rang, breaking the silence, he picked it up, hummed in response, and then ended the call.

"I have to go to a meeting," he said gently, his voice smooth yet tinged with guilt for leaving her in this state. Recognizing her nervousness, he decided it would be best to give her some space. "We'll talk later, okay?"

She nodded as he left the office. A tear slipped down her cheek. Wiping it away, she took a deep breath and whispered to herself, "Perhaps one day, you'll feel for me the way I feel for you."

Later that evening, Taehyung stayed behind to finish up some work. As he entered the office, he stopped at the doorway, his gaze softening when he saw Ava sleeping peacefully, on the desk. A gentle smile spread across his lips, and the weariness of the day seemed to dissolve in that peaceful moment.

He approached her quietly, his heart swelling with affection. Ava was curled up on the desk, her face resting on folded arms, and her blonde hair splayed out around her. The sight was so endearing that it made Taehyung's chest tighten with a mixture of tenderness and protectiveness.

With careful movements, he reached out and brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear. His fingertips brushed against her cheek, a touch so light it felt almost reverent. The warmth of his hand stirred her, and she awoke with a start, her eyes widening in surprise at his close presence.

Taehyung's smile remained, though now it was tinged with a hint of concern, as he watched her adjust to the sudden wakefulness.

"Oh no, I didn't realize it was so late. I must have fallen asleep," she said, sounding a bit anxious.

"Don't worry about it," he replied. "I was stuck with some work and didn't notice the time either."

"It's getting pretty dark," she remarked, glancing at the sun as it disappeared.

"Yeah, then we should head out," he said, his smile still in place."

"Okay," she said, nodding slowly.

They left the office and headed toward their next destination.
