He focused on his work when his assistant approached after getting his permission.
“Sir, Mr. Jung just called and apologized for the delay. He won’t be able to attend the meeting due to some personal issues.”
“Call him back and let him know it's fine. We can reschedule for another day,” he replied, still focused on his laptop.
“Okay, sir. Should I also cancel the restaurant booking?” she asked. He looked at her and a new idea occurred to him.
“No, you don’t need to do that. I’d like to keep the reservation; I can handle it myself. You can go ahead and leave,” he said.
“Sure, sir,” she replied, then left.
Ava, exhausted from a long day at work, was focused on her tasks when her phone rang. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw her husband’s number on the screen. She had saved his number long ago, thanks to her grandfather, and was lucky that he hadn't changed it. Despite this, she had never called him.
Hesitantly, she answered the call.
"Pack your stuff and come out of the office. We're going to a meeting," he said abruptly, hanging up without waiting for her response.
Ava fumed silently. "Who does he think he is? Does he think I’m his servant? At least he could say hello before giving orders," she complained to herself.
Her coworker, noticing her frustration, asked, "Did you finish the work I gave you?"
"I have to go. The boss wants to see me," Ava said, leaving without waiting for a reply.
She stepped out of the office and glanced at the black car parked in front of the building.
She’s dressed in a white top and blue jeans, her blonde hair secured in a massive bun that frames her face softly.
she walked toward the car, already knowing who was inside.
She gently knocked on the window. He rolled it down and glanced at her, trying to avoid looking directly at her.
"Come, sit," he said, avoiding eye contact.
She moved to the back door, about to open it, when his voice reached her ears.
“What am I, your driver? Come sit here.”
He pointed to the passenger seat. Hesitantly, she took the seat next to him.
She looked at him this close for the first time, and all she could think about was his presence. He seemed different because she was used to seeing him in a suit. He wore a crisp white shirt tucked into a pair of brown jeans, a simple yet stylish combination. His sleeves are artfully rolled up to the elbows, highlighting the refined elegance of his hands. His black hair was meticulously combed back, accentuating his smooth, clear forehead and giving him a polished, refined look. The contrast between the bright shirt and earthy jeans made him stand out even more, enhancing his overall appearance.
“Don’t you think staring is rude?” he remarked, noticing that her gaze lingered on him for too long. She quickly looked away toward the window, and he couldn’t help but smile at her shy response.
“Where are we going?" she asked.
“I told you before—we’re going to a meeting. Since my security is on leave.”
“Oh, I thought—”
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“Don’t tell me you thought I was taking you on a date?” he said dramatically. He then thought, with a smile, “But if I’m not wrong, it might be our first date.” Shocked by his own thought, he scolded himself internally, “Are you mad, Taehyung? It’s just a simple dinner, nothing more.”
"I never said that" she replied lightly, but her voice was clear enough for him to hear.
He merely smiled, his gaze lingering on her cute face.
The rest of the ride passed in comfortable silence.
