“Ava, is that you?” the person asked.

She turned around to find Jimin, the friend of Taehyung she had met at the restaurant.

“Oh, Jimin-shi,” she replied, slightly surprised.

“You remember me, don’t you?” Jimin asked with a friendly smile.

“Yes, I do. You’re a friend of my boss,” she said, her confusion evident.

“Well, I’m Taehyung’s friend, but it took me a while to recognize you too,” Jimin said with a soft chuckle.

“What do you mean?” she asked, looking puzzled.

Jimin smiled and said, “Don’t worry. Let me explain. You’re Kim Ava, right?”

“Yes, that’s right. So?” Her confusion deepened.

“Kim Taehyung’s wife, am I right?” Jimin asked.

“How do you know that?” Ava’s face shifted from confusion to shock.

“Oh, please don’t be scared. I used to visit your grandfather with Grandpa Donghae,” Jimin explained.

“Oh, you’re the one who used to come with Grandpa Donghae,” Ava said, her face relaxing.

“Yes, that’s me,” Jimin confirmed with relief.

“I’m sorry, it’s been years and I barely saw you during those visits,” Ava apologized.

“No problem at all. So, what brings you to Taehyung’s company?” Jimin asked.

“There are only a few months left until our divorce. I wanted to understand him better and maybe try to save the marriage, but he doesn’t seem to recognize me,” Ava said, her voice tinged with sadness.

“Honestly, it’s not surprising. He seems pretty set on ending things. Whenever I mention you, he just avoids the topic,” Jimin said.

“I know he wasn’t interested, but I didn’t realize he was involved with someone else. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have come,” Ava said.

“Someone else? He ha—” Jimin started, but his phone rang. Checking the caller ID, he looked concerned.

“Sorry, Ava. I have to go now; I completely forgot that I have an urgent meeting. Can we talk later?” Jimin asked.

“It’s fine, Jimin-shi. You can go,” Ava replied.

“Could I have your number so we can meet up again?” Jimin asked.

“Yes, of course,” Ava agreed.

As Jimin started to leave, Ava called out, “Wait, Jimin-shi. Please don’t mention this to Taehyung.”

“Don’t worry, Ava. I won’t say anything without your permission,” Jimin said warmly, giving her a reassuring smile before heading off.

Afterwards, Ava bought groceries and went back to her apartment.

Ava checked her phone and saw a string of missed calls. Her heart raced as she saw Taehyung’s name—five missed calls. "He called me?" she murmured, her voice trembling. "Should I call back? No, Ava, you’ve got to stay strong. If he’s happy with his fiancée, you can’t come between them."

Her heart ached at the thought. She wanted to hear his voice again, but she had decided long ago not to force him to be with her. If he was happy with someone else, she wouldn’t interfere or reveal that she was his wife. No matter how much it hurt, she would respect his life and choices.

With a heavy sigh, she tossed her phone onto the bed and headed to the kitchen, seeking solace in a simple meal.

Taehyung sat in silence, his gaze fixed on the empty space around him, weighed down by the gravity of his mistake. He had called her five times today, each ring filled with hope, but his calls went unanswered. Checking his phone again for a message, he found nothing. His patience was fraying; the growing distance between them felt unbearable. Realizing he couldn’t wait forever, he resolved that he needed to see her face-to-face to mend whatever was between them. He made up his mind: tomorrow, he would fix everything.
