The beautiful weather, the vast ocean, the cool breeze, and the gentle sunlight, this was what relaxation should feel like.
But Wei Ying felt anything but relaxed.
It was already morning, and still, not a single call or message from Lan Zhan. Not from Uncle Jiang, not from Jiang Cheng, and not even from any of the Lan men. The silence was starting to get to him.
He glanced to his side. Nie Huisang was still fast asleep, sprawled comfortably under the sheets, completely at peace with the world.
Wei Ying let out a soft sigh and slipped out of bed quietly. He grabbed his clothes and headed to the bathroom for a shower. Maybe some cold water would wake him up, at least clear his head.
Today, they had plans to explore the beach and the nearby spots. But no amount of sightseeing could distract him from the sinking feeling in his chest.
'Why hasn’t Lan Zhan called yet…?'

They all gathered at the beach with everything they needed, mats laid neatly on the soft sand, a food basket filled with delicious snacks, and even a few toys to play around with. The fresh sea breeze made everyone’s faces glow, and their bright outfits added to the lively mood.
“Catch it!” Yanli called out, throwing a beach ball toward Huisang and Wuxian. Huisang reacted quickly, catching it with a triumphant grin.
“Come, let’s play in the water!” Huisang said enthusiastically, tugging Wuxian’s hand. With no chance to protest, Wei Wuxian was pulled straight toward the waves. Yanli, the Wen siblings, and Xui Ching followed, laughter echoing behind them.
Meanwhile, the elder ladies spread out comfortably across the mats. They lounged with relaxed smiles, sharing stories, laughter, and keeping a watchful eye on the younger ones who splashed and played in the rolling waves.
But even with the bright sun above and cheerful laughter around him, Wei Wuxian’s heart wasn’t entirely at ease. A part of him kept drifting elsewhere, to someone who wasn’t here yet.
“Hey, this is so fun!” Huisang laughed after tossing Wen Ning into the water. Everyone burst out laughing at the sight.
But Wen Ning quickly rose from the waves, determined. Without a second thought, he grabbed Huisang with one arm. Huisang flailed and protested dramatically, but Wen Ning didn’t budge and tossed him straight into the water.
The scene made everyone laugh even harder. Wen Ning might be younger, but compared to Huisang, he was far more built and strong.
“Hey, no! don’t do this!” Wei Ying shouted when he noticed Huisang and Wen Ning teaming up and heading toward him.
And just like that, the playful chaos in the water began.
“Come on kids, let’s eat something!” Cangse shouted, calling them back from the water.
They all returned to the house to clean up, then decided it would be more fun to have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Instead of taking cars, they gathered in front of the house with bicycles.
“This idea is really good, Huisang,” Mrs. Lan said, patting his back.
“I knew it! I’m very smart,” Huisang replied sassily. Wei Ying just rolled his eyes at his dramatic best friend.
The group headed out, the sea breeze brushing against them as they cycled. Soon, they reached a well-known seafood restaurant.
Inside, the aesthetic was beautiful warm wooden tones, lanterns swaying above but it was also crowded. Luckily, they managed to secure a table together.
