❝THE TRUTH IS OUT
NO STOPPING NOW❞
FIFTH HARMONY, SLEDGEHAMMER
Once again, in vigilantism fashion, early nights were never granted on the days you genuinely tried to have them and that made Lorelei a little grumpy. Now, don't get her wrong. Lorelei really did miss this life, awoken from sleep and all... but she could have gone without being woken up from a nightmare to panicked teammates rushing to get their suits on.
By Garfield, of all people.
It was, at its finest, a nauseating ocean of deja vu and her own intuition continuing to scream at her.
This time around, Lorelei didn't fight the role handed to her - even if it was being forced to stay in the Batcave on comms. They claimed it was because she took too long to wake up and although she was alert enough to rush into her suit, she didn't have the energy to fight against Dick's orders. Whatever was happening needed no delays and if they were considering Lorelei a delay, she would sit her ass in front of the Batcomputer and man the comms.
Besides, she was still majorly pissed at Dick. Staying in Wayne manor meant only hearing his voice and she could settle for that.
"Alright, that's us here." Speak of the Devil and he shall appear was apparently a very true statement, Lorelei thought as Dick's voice boomed into the Batcave as he spoke into his comms.
Biting back a spiteful comment, Lorelei pressed the button that activated her microphone. "Keep in touch, I'll do what I can from this end." She replied, letting go of her button.
There wasn't much Lorelei could do from this end, she was no Barbara Gordon and far preferred field work. Avoiding Dick wasn't all sunshine and rainbows with her anger fueling inside.
The Robin suit rested in the display to her left - something she was avoiding looking at despite her stupid curiosities and drifting eyes. The young mage caught herself before she could look, whatever state it was kept in was not worth it. She couldn't remember her nightmare, being woken up and immediately filled with an adrenaline spike granted her the amnesia to whatever brought her white tears, but it happened. Seeing his suit would only fuel them.
"All clear here." Kory's voice beamed through the speakers, her communication not necessarily for Lorelei though she was grateful to have some form of knowledge with what was happening.
Which wasn't much, apparently.
The ice blonde mage rested back into her chair, carefully throwing her feet onto the desk as she munched on some chocolate. Was getting chocolate before heading to the Batcave necessary? Yes. Yes it was. And Lorelei was thankful for that decision, she was growing bored with every passing second.
"All clear." Hank said through his comms.
Lorelei let out a sigh as her eyes landed on her phone with a hidden wish she fought to go with them. Being on this end sucked. "Doom scrolling it is." She murmured to herself, picking the device from the table.
She hadn't switched it on since Hank threw it her way after picking her clothes from the safehouse, small claims of throwing in her charger somewhere in the duffle bag following the phone landing on her lap. Lorelei had missed these parts of this realm. The ability to just stop and fade away from the life you held in the name of social media and shutting your brain off.
