❝I'M SUFFOCATING❞

TEDY, IT'S OVER NOW

Waking up shortly after falling asleep was certainly not the night Lorelei Hansworth had planned and waking up with a bad feeling - intuitive feeling - was certainly not something that made her happier to be awake. It took approximately five minutes of being awake for Lorelei to note that the apartment was quiet. Too quiet. It was that very reason she had gotten out of bed and immediately began to worry for Rachel.

Rachel wasn't in bed and there was no noise in the apartment.

The thought of something bad happening to Rachel made the young mage frantically search every room of the apartment, being met with no human body - not even Dick, Hank or Dawn had returned from their vigilante situation. Luckily, Lorelei remembered there was access to the rooftop and immediately ran to the necessary route to look for Rachel in the chilly night in Washington.

She calmed down a little at the sight of Rachel standing in front of the sleeping birds, a small quiet curse escaping her lips as the night chilled against her bare arms as she walked towards the purple haired girl, who was holding an envelope and as Lorelei drew closer, could visibly see Rachel was upset.

"What's happened, Rach?" Lorelei asked her friend, gaining nothing but a shake to the head in return as the envelope was handed to the ice blonde mage, who had taken it and immediately frowned at its weight.

Money. There was a lot of cash in the envelope, followed by a letter. The letter in question boiled Lorelei's blood, a contrast to Rachel's sadness. Dick Grayson, the former Robin, a great detective, was going to leave the girls here. Lorelei hated to admit it but Hank was right. Dick really did have commitment issues.

"He was going to leave us." Rachel muttered out, barely above a whisper and the sight broke Lorelei, who said nothing. There was nothing she could say. She had spent so many conversations reassuring Rachel that Dick would help her - including Lorelei but that was irrelevant in the moment - and nothing, no amount of darkness, would change that. Yet, as she wrapped her arms around Rachel, all her comforting words had been rearranged into a devastating lie that she was blissfully unaware she was uttering by the hands of Dick Grayson when he wrote that letter.

It was devastating and Lorelei was at a loss for what to do. Not just for Rachel, but also herself. Dick was the entire reason she was in this - and she hated to put it this way - mess and how could she explain this to Bruce? 'I know you sent me to work with Dick but he abandoned me in the middle of the night with Hawk and Dove!' He royally fucked her over with that one.

"She's up here!" The man of the hour shouted down the stairs, presumably to Dawn and Hank, as he reached the rooftop with a panic as Lorelei pulled away from Rachel.

If the situation hadn't been with Lorelei or Rachel on the receiving end, the violet eyed mage would have considered it funny; Dick being so panicked to find the missing girls he was just a few short hours from leaving behind in Washington.

"Hey, what're you guys doing up here? I was worried." He said, gaining a glare from Lorelei before the girl turned away, Rachel, too, choosing to not say anything to Dick.

The girls gave him the silent treatment, to put it simply. What else could they do? Scream? Shout? Lorelei didn't want to trigger Rachel's powers - it seemed highly emotional circumstances were a major trigger, something the young mage took a note of - or wake up anyone in the apartment complex that may have been asleep. "Lorelei, Rachel what's wrong?"
