❝MAKE ME WANNA KNOW THAT❞

TAYLOR SWIFT, I THINK HE KNOWS

It had been a short few hours of hiding in her bedroom since the letter had been sent to Jason. Shortly after it had been whisked away with the portal Dylan had created of her mirror - which was now, unfortunately, closed -, the ice blonde mage felt a pinching sensation on her inner arm. Whether it was a coincidence or not for the random pains sparking her skin, she took it as a sign Jason could feel her too.

Since then, the young mage had changed from the emerald green formal dress she had purchased for the false party within her honour. It was gorgeous, but for everyday wear, it was uncomfortable. A casual maxi floral dress was pulled from her wardrobe - which Lorelei had now discovered to have many updates with clothing that would fit her aged body - and placed on her frame.

Her hair was also, kind of, fixed. The braid crown that had taken Lorelei far too long to create was taken out, her hair that was once straight now threatening to frizz into her natural waves. It wasn't until her hair began to annoy her as it fell into her vision once she sat at her desk, writing more letters to her friends.

A knock on the door interrupted the stilled quietness of the room, the sound overlapping the soft brushes of pen on paper. Dylan rushed over to the door as Lorelei shifted against her chair, turning her head to face the opening wood.

As the door swung open to reveal Colin, the royal guard Lorelei was overly familiar with, the young mage let out a gentle, thin lipped smile at the sight. "Your highness. His majesty, Archmage Winston, is calling for your presence." Colin informed, a polite smile forming on his lips.

"Can't a girl get some peace?" Lorelei grumbled as she stood from her chair. The greying guard let out a small chuckle at her remark, the noise bringing a slight upturn to Lorelei's lips.

As the young age follows Colin, Dylan remained a few, respectable, paces behind the young mage. It was reminiscent of her childhood, where Colin would once remain behind her whilst her father's guards fetched for her. She hated it.

Not just her father wanted her - she did hate it, Lorelei wished to remain away from him as much as possible while she settled back into the castle; another thing she hated -, but the lineup. She missed her friends, those that treated her like an equal. From walking in rows, understanding her as a person. It was things she hadn't realised she needed and now that she had a taste; she wanted it back.

Lorelei hadn't realised just how well adjusted she was to her new life. As a Titan, as a vigilante, as a friend. Within just a few months, her life had taken an entirely different turn - one she had never expected. It was a twist and turn that had been ripped from her hands with the tornado her father had become.

Personally, she couldn't wait to see him die.

"So, how did you get promoted from being my guard to his errand boy?" Lorelei asked, her voice slightly raised so that Colin could hear the question from behind.

It was a funny thought, to think being her guard was a downgrade. Her opinion differed to the contracts written up. The only perk you had was a better pay cheque at the end of every month. But was that really worth the higher chance of your boss murdering you for stepping out of line? Lorelei didn't think so.

Out of everyone Lorelei knew in her past, Colin was the last person she would have assumed to gain such a promotion. Though she supposed it made sense, if Archmage was none the wiser to certain things Colin had done.
