❝'CAUSE I'D GIVE UP HOPE

IF YOU WEREN'T THERE FOR ME❞

MEGHAN TRAINOR, AFTER YOU

With yesterday gone and over, the news of Jason working with Scarecrow had been floating aimlessly within her mind. It was the toughest pill Lorelei couldn't swallow, the poison forcing its way down her throat with the delicate intrusion of a doctor. It was something she wanted so desperately to forget; but she couldn't.

The irony was too visible.

The two Gotham rogues Lorelei hated the most had not only tangled themselves into her life but also latched their claws into Jason. A sick joke with a side of drugs and manipulation.

Today was calmer, or at least it had been with the distance Lorelei had kept from the world outside her mind. It wasn't until an attack at the Thomas and Martha Wayne Memorial Hospital that things began picking up, a surgical team killed in plain sight with medical equipment gone from the scene. And, of course, a fucking inhaler left at the scene. Another move from Crane - and Jason, she supposed.

Somehow, this event has gotten Lorelei sitting in the Batcave with Garfield while Dick stole the audio tapes from the hospital because, with the amazing luck they have been getting these past few days, there was no video evidence of the killings. Naturally, Dick had the amazing idea to journey into the air vents and get the audio tapes himself.

Things were rocky between him and Barbara, not that Lorelei could blame the woman. She, too, was pissed with Dick stealing Crane.

"Okay. How much further to the evidence room?" Dick asked, his voice sounding through the speakers attached to the Batcomputer.

Looking at the screen, Garfield let out a small eye roll as he looked Lorelei's way. "Twenty-five meters." He grumbled out, the young mage flashing him a grin in response.

"Twenty-five meters. Do I go left or straight?"

"Left. Does Barbara know you're in there?" The green haired boy asked, his voice dripped with annoyance. It was petty, but Lorelei was glad to have someone equally as pissed at Dick.

"We're at a bit of an impasse. Once we get the audio tapes from the hospital, I'll... I'll let her know." Dick answered, his voice breaking with a pant every few words as he shuffled within the vents. "Are you okay? If you want to talk about something, I'm all ears."

The ice blonde royal raised her eyebrow as Garfield spun around his chair, a small huff escaping his lips at the question. "Or not." Dick added as the younger Titan remained silent, stopping his spinning with a certain look of hesitation.

"Dick, I gotta ask and I think Lorelei needs to know too." Garfield spoke, sharing a look with Lorelei as she watched in a forced curiosity she didn't want. The young mage gave a small nod, a spark of encouragement for him to continue to speak. "Back in the cabin..."

"What about it?"

The boy of transformations took a deep breath before speaking, a hidden shake as the air escaped his lips. "Were you going to kill Jason?" His words fell into the microphone linked to Dick's earpiece and Lorelei's beating heart.

Was this something she even wanted to know? With Hank, it was expected for him to say and threaten such things... but Dick? Would he? Was he? Can Lorelei forgive him if he did?
