❝A LITTLE IN ADVANCE❞

CHARLIE PUTH, KISS ME BEFORE I FUCKING LOSE MY MIND

Twisting her ice blonde strands of hair into a messy braid, Lorelei sat at the edge of her comfortable bed. It was the morning after her movie night with Jason, empty wrappers and snacks dotting across her room as the only evidence of her night with laughter and joy. The young Robin was still asleep, his heavy breathing becoming the only noise to fill her bedroom as he remained snuggled into her bedding.

Usually, if Lorelei were to wake first, she would spend her morning scrolling through various social media apps whilst waiting on Jason waking up. Though she could squirm away from their night embrace, the young mage supposed she also enjoyed the warmth and eating her breakfast with him.

This morning was proof that, if she actually tried to, she could escape his grasp.

These mornings, one morning a week, she allowed herself a day from her morning runs. Where her mind typically relaxed with the distraction of running, had found a new solace in Jason's breathing - whether soft, heavy, or snoring - and heat. He had helped her, unknowingly.

But today she had awoken with her mind swirling over the past few weeks with knowing Jason. Even with her artificial abilities controlling her nightmares, Lorelei couldn't keep her mind from wandering off into her thoughts. Her conversations with Jason and her team surrounded her mind, overtaking her thoughts and replacing the little sleep she managed to gain.

He was right, more than right. Lorelei had been shutting herself off to him more than anyone and she couldn't even be consistent about the little droplets she gave to him. And that had to change, going forward.

Today. It will change today.

Even if it is hard, Lorelei will consistently let Jason into her life. As a teammate, as a friend, she couldn't lose him and if she continued with her attitude, she would. The violet eyed mage liked Jason too much to lose him, their bond was established from their first moments together; it would be something that would flourish into a wonderful connection.

Which, ultimately, meant talking. About her life, the bad and the good. It would take time to tell him everything, it wouldn't all come out at once. But she wanted to. Lorelei really wanted to. The young mage was ready to let chaos loose and end the blockages from her gaining a good thing in life.

She had to let go. Of her fright in telling someone everything about her, of losing people due to the things she had both witnessed and done. All of it had to go, she had to move forward because it was part of her. Her life, her history, it made Lorelei who she was.

All she had to do was wait on Jason to wake up and she would start talking. It was now or never and she had decided - now. The young mage could only hope her confidence wouldn't waiver by the time he would wake.

"Morning." Jason mumbled, earning a small jolt from Lorelei as she was pulled from her thoughts of building her confidence.

There was no time like the present, right?

"Morning, sleepyhead." She said, finishing her braid before shifting to face Jason. Despite announcing he was awake, the young boy kept his eyes closed and limbs closely under the bedding. "Sleep well?"

"M'cold."

"You're literally under my blankets." The young mage pointed out, her eyes glazing over her duvet that was pulled closely to his chin. It was an adorable sight, she couldn't help but snap a quick picture with her phone camera.
