The next morning, Mevkhibe and Nihat are busy writing out the names of all the people that needed to be informed about the weddings and invited.
"Mrs Gulse?"
"Yes. They're two, right?" Mevkhibe nods. "Okay, sure," Nihat nods too.
"Good morning," Leyla greets with a deep breath as she enters ahead of Sanem, who smiles and greets their parents as well.
"Good morning," both Nihat and Mevkhibe say at the same time, looking up at them. "So, tell me, Leyla," Mevkhibe jumps in right away as soon as Leyla sits down, Sanem staying standing behind her sister's chair. "Do you want an indoor or an outdoor wedding?"
Oh dear... Sanem inches back a bit as Leyla stares at her mother.
"Goodness Mevkhibe, let the girl eat something first. Patience my lamb."
"And let her worm her way out of answering again because her mouth is full? No." Leyla shifts in her chair and glances up at Sanem, who blinks at their mother. "Come on, Leyla, tell me. Indoor," Mevkhibe smiles, "or outdoor?"
Leyla licks her dry lips, opening her mouth a smidge before she pauses. "Uhm...well..." She looks at Nihat. "Well...the wedding..." Her eyes slide from one to the other nervously. "The wedding is...it is..."
Wow this is not uncomfortable at all, Sanem swallows and checks on her stuttering sister before looking at her mother now looking from Leyla to her.
"What's wrong with her?"
"Leyla," Sanem bends next to Leyla, who turns her head and hums, her eyes wide. "They're talking about your wedding, go on, tell them," she says and slides her eyes at their parents. Tell them now! You're running out of time!
"Hmmm," Leyla groans under her breath as Sanem stands back up and Leyla turns to her mother again.
"Your mother had a bad dream again last night."
"I can't help what happens when I sleep, Nihat," Mevkhibe complains. "From one engagement to another. We're stuck planning two weddings because one has to always follow the other. What if they want to get married on the same day? God forbid we don't know whether it's going to be indoors or outdoors. This one can't decide, and the other one is just as indecisive sometimes."
"Did she just call me the other one?" Sanem whispers next to Leyla, who nods and Sanem rolls her eyes getting up again. "Right." She clears her throat and picks up another olive. "Well, I'm meeting Can for breakfast so - " She pauses when both look at her and she gulps down the olive she just ate. "I mean, I was hoping to meet him for...you know..."
"This early in the morning?" Mevkhibe asks.
"That's usually when people have breakfast. When else will we go?"
"Sanem, you were together just last night. Calm down with the seeing of one another so much."
Sanem glances from Mevkhibe to Nihat, who gives her a quiet nod and blinks. "I will, I promise. We just...we won't be together too long." She bends and whispers into Leyla's ear while Mevkhibe stares her down with a slow nod, "It's your turn now."
"Okay."
"Okay. Be brave," she whispers one last thing then heads to the door. "Bye bye."
"Bye dear."
"See you later."
Leyla waits until they're alone before she takes a deep breath. Come on! Sanem's right! Do it now! "Mom, dad?" she starts firmly and looks right at them. "I - "
