Kavya stormed into Vanraj's room, her eyes blazing with fury. "Vanraj, yeh tum kya kar rahe ho? Tum Anupamaa ko divorce dene ke liye toh tayar ho, lekin mere saath shaadi nahi karoge? Tumhara yeh matlab kya hai?" Her voice trembled with a mix of betrayal and rage. She had given up everything for him—her share of property, her reputation, even her sense of security—and now, when it was time for him to stand by her, he was backing out.
Vanraj, sitting on the edge of the bed, couldn't meet her gaze. He ran his hands through his hair in frustration. "Kavya, samajhne ki koshish karo. Maine Anupamaa ko divorce dene ka faisla kar liya hai, lekin tumhare saath shaadi... main abhi us rishte ke liye tayar nahi hoon." His voice was conflicted, torn between guilt and indecision.
Kavya's heart sank. She had built her entire future around this man, and now he was slipping through her fingers. "Tum ab mujhse shaadi nahi karna chahte? Tumne mujhe yeh kab soch kar nahi bataya? Tumne mujhe sapne dikhaye aur ab keh rahe ho ki tumhe sochne ka waqt chahiye?" Her voice cracked with emotion, her fists clenched.
Vanraj sighed heavily, avoiding her eyes. "Kavya, baat aisi nahi hai. Tum meri zindagi ka hissa ho, lekin abhi jo kuch chal raha hai, main kisi aur zimmedari ko sambhalne ki halat mein nahi hoon."
Kavya shook her head, tears of anger welling up. "Meri zindagi tumhare saath jodi thi, Vanraj! Tum samajhte ho main ne kya khoya hai tumhare liye? Main apni purani shaadi, apni izzat, apni property sab kuch tumhare liye chhod di. Aur ab jab waqt aaya tumhare saath naye rishte ke liye, tum peeche hat rahe ho?" Her voice rose as she questioned him, feeling the ground slip beneath her.
Vanraj looked up, his expression hardening. "Main tumhe kabhi jhoota sapna nahi dikhana chahta, Kavya. Tumse shaadi karna... abhi nahi ho sakta."
Kavya stared at him, shocked. "Toh tum kya chahte ho? Main tumhari zindagi mein hoon lekin tumhe farq nahi padta agar main tumhare saath hoon ya nahi?" She paused, struggling to hold back her tears. "Mere paas ab kuch bhi nahi bacha, Vanraj. Tumne sab kuch le liya aur ab tumhe mujhe bhi nahi chahiye?"
He remained silent, his face a mask of indecision. Kavya shook her head, her heart breaking. "Tumhare liye toh sab kuch ek khel tha, Vanraj. Tumne meri poori zindagi barbaad kar di." She turned and stormed out, leaving Vanraj sitting in silence, consumed by his own regrets.
As days passed, Anupamaa slowly regained her health. One morning, she stood near the door, bags packed, ready to leave the house. She had made up her mind; she wanted to start afresh, far away from the memories that haunted her in the Shah house. But as she turned to go, Bapuji and Baa stood in her way.
Bapuji stepped forward, his eyes full of love and pain. "Anupamaa, hum tumhe kahin jaane nahi denge. Tumne is ghar ke liye apna sab kuch diya hai. Ab tumhare bina yeh ghar adhoora lagega. Hum tumhe woh izzat denge jo tum deserve karti ho."
Anupamaa's eyes filled with tears, but she shook her head. "Bapuji, yeh ghar... yeh yaadein, sab kuch mujhse juda ho chuka hai. Main ab aur nahi jee sakti iss chhati hui zindagi mein. Main apna astitva kho chuki hoon."
Baa, who had never fully supported Anupamaa before, now stood with folded hands, pleading. "Beta, tum chahe jitna bhi door jaane ki koshish karo, tumhare bachche tumse kabhi door nahi honge. Yeh ghar sirf tumhara hai. Tum humari beti ho, aur tumhare bina hum kuch nahi."
Anupamaa looked at Baa, surprised by her words. The old bitterness had left Baa's face, replaced by genuine care. But still, she hesitated. "Baa, yeh sab kehna aasan hai. Main toh sirf ek zinda lash ban gayi hoon yahan."
Bapuji wiped his eyes and said firmly, "Anupamaa, tum kahin nahi jaa rahi. Tumhara yeh ghar hai aur tum yahan hi rahogi. Tumhare bachchon ko tumhari zarurat hai. Tum unse bhaag nahi sakti."
Anupamaa struggled internally, wanting to leave but knowing that her children needed her. After a long pause, she finally gave in. "Bapuji, agar aap kehte hain toh main yahan ruk jaungi. Par ek shart hai—main apne liye jeena seekhna chahti hoon, apne sapne poore karna chahti hoon."
Bapuji smiled, relief flooding his face. "Bas yahi toh hum tumse chahte hain, Anupamaa. Tum apni zindagi apne tareeke se jeeyo. Hum hamesha tumhare saath hain."
That evening, Anupamaa sat with Anurag, who had been her pillar of strength throughout her struggles. She looked at him, her heart full of gratitude.
Anupamaa: "Anurag, main tumhara kaise shukriya ada karoon? Tumne meri har kadam par madad ki. Pata nahi kaunsa janam ka rishta hai jo tum mere saath ho."
Anurag smiled gently. "Mummy, main toh bas apna farz nibha raha hoon. Aapne hamesha sabke liye socha, apne baare mein kabhi nahi. Ab bas aapko apne liye jeena hai."
Anupamaa wiped a tear that escaped her eye. "Tumne mujhe itni himmat di, Anurag. Main kabhi soch bhi nahi sakti thi ke main apne liye itna bada faisla kar paungi. Tumne mujhe mere sapnon ka ehsaas karaya."
Anurag took her hand, his voice soft and full of affection. "Aap sirf Mummy nahi, ek insaan ho. Aapko apne sapne poore karne ka pura haq hai. Aur main hamesha aapke saath hoon, chahe kuch bhi ho."
Anupamaa's heart swelled with emotion. "Tum jaise beta ke liye main Bhagwaan ka shukriya ada karti hoon. Tumhari wajah se hi main aaj yeh faisla kar paayi hoon."
Anurag smiled, a tear glistening in his own eye. "Aapko ab kisi se darrne ki zarurat nahi hai, Mummy. Hum sab aapke saath hain."
And for the first time in a long while, Anupamaa felt truly at peace, surrounded by the love and respect she had always deserved but never received.
