As Anupamaa busied herself at the Dance Academy, Anuj found himself with an unexpectedly quiet afternoon at home. His work for the day was already completed, and without any pressing commitments, he was left with an unusual feeling of idleness. He wandered around the house, trying to occupy himself, but the stillness felt strange. A man who thrived on purpose, Anuj couldn't quite settle into the rhythm of doing nothing.
Meanwhile, Anurag had retreated to his room earlier, seeking some time to freshen up. Emerging from the shower, his energy seemed renewed, and there was a bounce in his step as he came downstairs. Anurag was visibly excited, his eyes sparkling with the eagerness of someone with much to say.
He had been longing to catch up with Anuj. The past couple of days had been so eventful that they hadn't found a moment to have a proper conversation. Normally, Anurag was used to sharing at least some part of his day with his father, and Anuj, in turn, had always made time to talk to him, even about the smallest things. For the past ten years, their bond had been woven through countless chats, from mundane discussions to whimsical dreams that Anuj would share. Yet, oddly enough, they hadn't talked about something as monumental as Anuj's recent proposal to Anupamaa.
For Anurag, this silence was uncharacteristic. While Anuj was the open book in their relationship, sharing every thought and even the silliest of dreams, Anurag was the opposite-a bit of a mystery, someone who often kept his thoughts to himself. Yet, despite his secretive nature, Anurag had always informed Anuj about the significant decisions in his life, trusting his father's wisdom and presence. Their dynamic was built on this unspoken understanding.
Spotting Anuj sitting in the living room, lost in thought, Anurag seized the moment. He approached quietly, observing his father for a moment. Anuj's faraway expression made it clear he was daydreaming, and the corners of Anurag's mouth twitched with mischief.
Settling down next to him, Anurag leaned forward and teased, "Papa, kya soch rahe ho itna deeply? Shadi ke baare mein ya... oh wait... first night ke baare mein?"
Anuj snapped out of his reverie, his eyes wide with surprise. "Anurag!" he exclaimed, half-amused and half-embarrassed. He reached out to playfully swat his son, who burst into laughter at his father's reaction.
Anurag leaned back, grinning from ear to ear. "Arre, Papa! Aapka yeh dreamy look dekh kar koi bhi yeh hi sochega. Mummy ki yaad aa rahi hai na?"
Anuj shook his head, chuckling despite himself. "Tum na, bilkul sudharne wale nahi ho. Aur waise, agar main Anupamaa ke baare mein soch raha hoon, toh kya galat hai? Tumhari mummy meri duniya hai." His tone turned warm, the love in his words unmistakable.
Anurag's teasing gradually shifted to admiration as he noticed the genuine love in his father's words. "Woh toh hai, Papa. Aap logon ka pyaar dekh kar lagta hai ki fairy tales sach mein hote hain. Waise, aap batayiye, shadi mei kya kya hona chahiye! Preparations mei toh mai expert hoon, full event organizer ban gaya hoon!" he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Anuj chuckled at Anurag's enthusiasm and leaned back comfortably. "Toh tumhe mere sapno ki shadi ke baare mein sunna hai?" he asked, a playful tone creeping into his voice.
"Bilkul! Ab aapka sapna pura hone ja raha hai, toh event ka plan toh humesha ki tarah perfect hona chahiye. Batao na, Papa," Anurag encouraged, leaning forward.
As Anuj began describing his vision for the wedding, from simple, elegant décor to meaningful rituals, Anurag couldn't help but notice something strange. His father seemed excited, even dreamy, when speaking about the wedding, but he completely skipped over any details about the proposal. That was unlike Anuj, who usually shared every little moment of joy with his son.
