"Hey get back here." I heard a man shout.
"Help! Somebody help me!" The lady voice was after that. I looked down to see what the commotion was.
I saw a goon cornering a young woman into the end of the alley. "Where are you going pretty lady?"
I couldn't let this lady be attacked. "Get back or I'll call the police!" The man advanced and grabbed onto her, ignoring her threat.
I jumped from the ledge where I was looking "Let the pretty woman go. She's not your type."
The man swung the girl in front of her. "Get back, I'll shoot her." He put his gun on her temple.
"Don't do that." I said keeping my distance.
"I said get back." The goon said again.
"Do us all a favor and put her down and walk away. I don't want to hurt you." That maybe was a lie. Not sure yet.
He stared at me for a second and took in my suit. "You look pathetic in that costume. Who made it, your mother?"
"My niece did, not my mom. Put the gun down. And walk away." My voice was firm, even though he made fun of my suit.
He moved his gun so it was facing me. "I'm going to shoot you and you'll die."
Like he knows I'm wearing a bulletproof vest. I smirked. "Try it."
The girl look at me like I was a madman. "Don't shoot!" The goon didn't take her advice. He pulled the trigger four times. I dodged three bullets, the four one hit me in the heart. But the bulletproof vest caught it, so no dying yet.The goon looked confused. "What the hell?"
I stood up straight and cracked my knuckles. "Now let her go."
He turned the gun to the girl again. "I have one bullet left, I'll shoot her."
This guy wasn't the smartest person ever. "Not this argument again."
His eyes got buggy. His body was shaking. "I'll give you to the count of three. One, two..."
I finished his counting. "Three." My knife was already flying through the air.
The girl screamed as the man holding her fell. "Thank you very much. I don't know what I would have done if you weren't here."
What would a hero say? "No problem. I had business to deal with, but I heard you screaming." I walked over to her and grabbed my knife."It's not every day you have a person in a mask saving you." She let out a nervous laugh.
"I know, it's a strange thing. " I know what comes next for a hero. I went in for the kiss.
I felt a hand stop my face. "What are you doing?"
"I was going in for a kiss." I said looking confused.
"Why?" She was giving me a stink eye.
"Isn't that what is supposed to happen now?" I stood up straight.
Her mouth dropped. "No. Just because you saved me doesn't mean you have the right to kiss me."She was wrong. "But I saved you." I tried leaning in again.
She dodged my lips. "God, men are so egotistical. You could have said 'be safe' or 'don't walk in dark alleys by yourself.'"
"I would assume you would know that if I had to save you." I said looking at her.
She held up a pencil and a pad of paper. "I am on an journalistic investigation. And I am a grown adult. If you want to kiss me, wait until you save me five times."
"Or how about you thank me that you weren't hurt!" I tried to explain.
"Well, I could've gotten hurt if that knife you threw hit me! Do you know how close that was to me?" She placed her hand on her hip.
This lady. I rolled my eyes. "I saved your life, isn't that good enough?"
"You're a pig. I'm leaving." She pushed past me.
"Wait what is your name?" I gently grabbed her arm.
She ripped it out of my hand. "Why would I tell you?" She marched off.
Well, how rude. I saved her. And every comic book I read when the super hero saves someone they get a kiss, at least I think that's how it work.
