"Hey, how do I look?" I said, standing in front of Rory.
She didn't even look up. "Like a buffoon."
"Really?" I said getting worried about my outfit. These were my best clothes, beside my wedding clothes.
Rory rolled her eyes. "No. I was being sarcastic. You look fine."
I examined my clothes again. "Are you sure?"
"Yes. She's probably waiting for you. I hope you know that." Rory said looking back down at her laptop.
"Oh, yeah. I will see you later. Don't get into trouble. If you need anything don't hesitate to call. If there is a real problem, call 911. Don't burn the house down." I said, rattling off the things that could possibly go wrong.
"Toby, just go." Rory said pushing me towards the door.
"Ok. Rory is in charge. Same things apply to you guys." I shouted to the others, who weren't paying attention.
Rory pushed me out into the hallway. "Bye." She closed the door.
I took a deep breath in, trying to calm myself down. "Ok. I can do this. I have saved people before, I can do this."
I heard the door open behind me. "For god's sake, leave!" Rory groaned before closing the door again.
I made my way to her unit. I knocked on the door overcoming my fear. Her grandmother opened the door. "Hi. Is Faye there?"
Her grandmother grabbed my hand and tried to bring me into the apartment. "Come in, come in!"
Faye grabbed my arm and pushed me into the hallway. Her grandmother shouted something in a different language. "No Gami. We aren't going to eat here. We will be going out for dinner. Gami! Stop. That's not what we are doing. Go watch TV." Faye closed the door behind her.
"What did she say?" I asked Faye.
"She asked if we wanted her to perform a marriage ceremony." Faye said, blushing. That made Faye look so adorable.
"A marriage ceremony?" I asked. Her grandmother wanted things to get moving.
"Yeah. I'm sorry about that. She can be a little over bearing. She needs to know about my love life all the time." Faye said, shaking her head at her grandmother's ways.
I took in Faye's appearance. Even though the clothes she had on here simple, she made them look like they could only be worn by a goddess. "You look amazing."
"Thanks, you look very handsome." Faye said looking at my fancy clothes.
"You think so? Rory said I looked like a buffoon." I asked second guessing my clothing choice.
The door to my unit opened revealing Rory. "Dear god. You both look fine. Go before I get your grandmother out her to wed you two." Rory closed the door behind her leaving us in silence for a second.
"Ok let's go." I ushered Faye towards the stairs.
"So are we going anywhere special?" Faye asked as we made our way downstairs.
"There was this club downtown that would be cool to go to. It's a newer one." I couldn't remember the name for the life of me.
"The Epsi? That club?" Faye asked her eyes wide.
"Yeah that one. We could go there." I said as we walked towards my car.
"Do you know how hard it is to get into that club. I had to do a story on it and I could barely get in, even with permission from the owner." Faye said as I opened the door for her to get in.
"With how good we look, according to Rory, I bet we could get in really quick." I said, getting into my car.
"If that's what you want to do then let's go." Faye said. I started the car. This was the start to our perfect first date.
