Every time I try to explain
how I truly feel,
I fail.
The words dissolve like mist
before they ever meet the air."What happened?" they ask,
their voices echoing
through the hollow of my silence. But before I can speak,
tears flood the space between us,
my mouth dries up,
and I whimper,
a sound too soft,
too broken,
like a wounded soul,
trapped in a body
that cannot speak its pain. And in that moment,
all I have left
are the tears that say
what I cannot.***
