"It's not on me," I tell myself,
but I still cry for those
who lose the ones they love.
I feel their sadness,
though it was never mine to feel."It's not on me," I say again,
yet my heart breaks for friendships
that fall apart,
for words left unsaid,
for bonds that end in silence."It's not on me," I try to believe,
but their pain finds its way to me,
and even though I can't fix it,
I carry it with me anyway.***
Don't we all at some point in our lives say, "It's not on me," and yet, end up taking things on ourselves?
