Tears come crashing down,
unannounced, without a cue-
the weight on my shoulders,
or maybe the guilt of wounds I've pressed
into those I love.

It could be the care I cradle,
how fear wraps tight around my heart,
scared to lose them,
to watch them slip away.
I don't know why,
but I hate it.

My hair tousled,
eyes swollen, bloodshot red,
nose a soft, telling pink-
these betray the silence I wear,
make the chaos too clear.
