"Can we turn it all back around?"

The air was thick with tension, the silence between Eunseok and Jiwon oppressive

The air was thick with tension, the silence between Eunseok and Jiwon oppressive. Typically, their workspace echoed with anguish remarks and sarcastic quips, but today, Eunseok's brooding silence was unsettling.

Jiwon's pen scratched across the charts, her eyes darting toward Eunseok with concren. His eyes, redened and wary caught her attention. The dark circles under his eyes more visible than before. Had he slept at all? Jiwon wondered.

Jiwon's inquiry, though genuine, was laced with hesitation. She had no reason to care about Eunseok's well-being, especially after their past. Yet, her inherent empathy prompted the question: "Are you okay?" Her tone was guarded, anticipating his scorn.

Eunseok's pen paused mid-stroke as he glared at Jiwon. His eyes narrowed, skepticism written across his face.

"What do you care?" he snapped, his voice heavy with disdain. The air seemed to thicken, their animosity palpable.

Jiwon's eyes locked onto Eunseok's, her expression neutral. She hadn't expected warmth, but his behaviour still stung. Her concern, fleeting as it was, dissipated under his hostility.

"None of my business, apparently"
she retorted, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

Eunseok's gaze lingered, his jaw clenched. Jiwon's words had struck a nerve, but he refused to acknowledge it. With a curt nod, he resumed writing, dismissing her inquiry.

"Why does it always have to be like this?"
Jiwon exclaimed, her voice trembling with frustration. Her fists clenched, betraying her attempt at composure. "Why must we constantly fight?"

Eunseok's expression remained impassive, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, trust me, I don't know, angel," he replied nonchalantly, his eyes never leaving hers.

Jiwon's gaze flashed with irritation at the familiar mocking nickname. "Stop calling me that!" she snapped, her anger boiling over.

Just as Jiwon was about to unleash another verbal salvo, her phone buzzed, distracting her. A message from Beomgyu flashed on the screen, sent to their group chat. She sighed, her anger momentarily diffused.

"Great timing" she muttered, setting aside her frustration. Her eyes rolled as she opened the message.

Eunseok raised an eyebrow, noticing the sudden shift in her demeanor. "Saved by the bell?" he quipped, his tone laced with sarcasm. Jiwon shot him a withering glance before focusing on her phone.

Lele 🐬 :
I pity you bro

Yeseul :
This drama never end 🙂

I swear I am so annoyed, frustrated and mad rn
Why is it that I hate him so much?
Everything's is in past, I should move on But I am not able to
I hate this
I hate being like this

Lele 🐬 :
Want me to talk to him?
I would gladly throw some senses in his mind for treating you like that
You didn't deserved it ji

Yeseul :
Girl, your emotions are valid. Don't suppress them
And it's alright
sometime moving on seems impossible And you really can't do anything

Beomgyu :
I think you both need to sort it
Communication is the key
Talk it out jiwon

Jiwon's gaze lingered on Eunseok's peaceful face, his head resting against the desk in a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing inside her. Their once-easy friendship now lay in tatters, and she couldn't help but wonder what was left to salvage.

What was there to talk about, really? More blame, more hurt? The memories of their latest argument still stung, and the scattered papers and broken pens surrounding them served as a painful reminder.

As she watched Eunseok's gentle breathing, Jiwon felt a pang of frustration. How could he sleep so soundly, oblivious to the chaos he'd stirred? She thought back to their past, trying to pinpoint where things had gone wrong. Had it been a gradual decline or a single, devastating blow?

The pain and betrayal still lingered, refusing to be extinguished.

Jiwon's thoughts swirled in confusion. Should she just leave him be, forget the past and move on? But how could she when the wounds still felt so raw? Could they ever go back to how things were, or was that just a futile hope?
