"What the fuck was that?" Em asked, practically yelling at this point.
"A loud bang outside on the door." Cole deadpanned.
"No shit, asshole, but what was it?" Em narrowed her eyes at him.
"I'm with Cole, lets be the idiots in a horror movie and go toward the noise guys," Jake said, smirking, clearly enjoying the moment far more than the situation warranted.
West was already halfway to the door, that familiar smirk dancing on his lips. He had the gut to look excited, like this was some kind of escape room.
Jake, cracked his knuckles. "Let's do it. What's the worst that could happen?"
I stared at them, utterly dumbfounded. "Are you serious? The worst that could happen? Have you never seen a horror movie? The worst that could happen is we end up dead, Jake. Dead."
Jake waved me off, "Relax, Madi. You're being dramatic."
I glanced at Lia and Em, both of whom looked as terrified as I felt. Lia's eyes were wide, and Em was biting her lip so hard I was surprised it wasn't bleeding.
The guys didn't give us another second to debate this when they pulled us all out of the room.
"What the fuck are we getting ourselves into?" I muttered under my breath.
The hallway was dark, the only light coming from the faint glow of the moon peeking through the window.
Shadows danced on the walls, and with every creak of the house, my heart pounded louder.
West led the way, of course, acting like he had a clue what he was doing. His back was tense, muscles flexing under his shirt as he moved. Fuck was it hot.
The look in his eyes was almost... eager. Like he couldn't wait to confront whatever was making that noise.
This guy would be the first one to die.
I leaned over to Lia. "They're way too excited about this."
"I swear," Lia whispered back, clutching my arm. "What do they think it is? A game of hide-and-seek?"
"They're acting like they're going to find fucking treasure." I Em muttered, shaking her head.
Another bang—this one louder, closer—reverberated through the walls, and we all stopped in our tracks.
My stomach lurched as I felt the floor vibrate beneath my feet.
"Did that sound... closer?" Em asked, her voice a shaky whisper.
Cole snorted. "It could just be a raccoon?"
Em glared at him, "Right. At 3am, on the drive way."
Lia turned back squealing, "NFTR."
I shook my head, "This isn't a Wattpad book Lia."
Lia just shrugged, "Right. Because right now, I feel like a Wattpad character."
Whatever it was, was clearly getting impatient because the sound of something throwing itself against the door was getting louder. There was some sort of hissing? Or something like that.
Em's eyes widen, "Raccoons don't make that sound."
Jake, being the idiot he is, was live on Instagram, "Guys we might die today."
Fucking hell.
215 people were already watching the live. At three in the fucking morning, do these people have nothing better to do?
