Chapter 7
IT TOOK QUITE AWHILE FOR THE auditorium to clear out. It was like viewing a powerfully compelling film in a movie theater filled to capacity with a captivated audience. After the last mesmerizing scene, the credits begin to roll, everyone knows the film is over, but no one moves or makes a sound for minutes because the experience has been so riveting. Maitreya disappearing into thin air was our dramatic last scene.
"Lydia...did you see that? I suppose this was just a taste of what I'll be experiencing now that I'm here. And that blessing, I don't suppose anyone has figured out how to bottle that stuff," I teased, already knowing the answer.
"You've got that right...and you ain't seen nothin' yet! We've all witnessed Spirit Beings like Maitreya come and go like Casper the Ghost, but yeah, there's a lot more to come," Lydia replied while slightly shaking her head and rolling her eyes recalling just some of the amazing things that have happened to her since arriving in heaven.
"I guess we can get going...people are finally starting to leave. So, you said you'd help me find Antonio. Do you know where he is?" I asked, already feeling some schoolgirl jitters over whether he might have any lingering feelings for me stemming from those crazy days in Tel Aviv.
"I think I already mentioned we're in the Tellurian Quadrant, the zone where souls from Earth come to begin their new life in heaven. So, we know Antonio is here somewhere and I'd be surprised if he got through all of his orientation activities already and shipped off for another mission. I think our chances of finding him are pretty good. Hey, I know...every new arrival gets to throw a party to celebrate. I'll help you get one organized and we'll invite Antonio! How does that sound?"
"I like it...in a more casual party setting I'll have a chance to feel him out before jumping off the deep heartthrob end without an emotional safety net. Is it my call, when and where and how to throw the party, or does it have to be handled in a certain way?"
"Think of it like a cross between a birthday party and a Bah Mitzvah, or Bat Mitzvah in your case, being a girl—part fun and part reverent ceremony, but you can put your personal spin on it," Lydia replied.
"Are these things well attended, or more of a small gathering?" I needed to know to start planning.
"It's up to you. Let me just say that you already know how much we all value creative impulses. I don't want to tell you about some of the welcome home parties I've been to because it would be great if you came up with something that's never been done before. How about this, I'll look for Antonio and you go to the Soft Landing Café and start organizing your thoughts. I'll meet you there when I've found Antonio."
"Works for me...now, how do I get from here to the coffee shop again?"
LYDIA'S DIRECTIONS WERE COMPLICATED, but one of the many amazing things about being in heaven is the photographic memory that is standard operating equipment with any mind contained in a glorified body. I settled into a booth near one of the wormhole terminals thinking seeing new arrivals would inspire me to plan my welcome home party. I'd ordered another moringa chai latte and was sipping on it while activating the Universal Mind virtual terminal monitor which the café provided at each table.
I set up a simple outline on a word processing page and started thinking back to other parties I'd planned and attended. As the memories surfaced and faded I kept feeling so grateful to Lydia. Yes, she was an old, dear friend, but she was also fulfilling the heavenly Service role of mentor to a struggling new arrival which she took very seriously. The role of Love was so powerful here, casting the glow of joy on everything it touched. Then, it hit me.
