For months, Lewis had watched his girlfriend, Vienna drift away from him. It was slow at first and the distance of him being away so often, didn't help. He couldn't exactly pinpoint the moment it started, but the shift in her was unmistakable. The vibrant, outgoing girl he adored, the one who lit up every room she entered, was fading before his very eyes.

It started with the little things. The way Vienna canceled dinner plans with random excuses, always saying she was tired or had too much on her plate. The way her laughs sounded forced when he told her about his latest travel stories. She'd always been his rock, his confidante, the love of his life. But now, she was slipping through his fingers and he didn't know how to hold on.

Lewis began to notice more unsettling patterns. She hardly ate anymore. Whenever they'd eat together, she'd pick at her food, pushing it around her plate. Sometimes, she'd manage a few small bites before excusing herself from the table, saying something about needing to check on something or take a call. Other times, she wouldn't even make it through the first course before disappearing into the bathroom, leaving him staring at her untouched plate with, worry in his chest.

It wasn't just the meals, it was everything. The way she flinched when he tried to hold her hand. The way she avoided his gaze. The way her shoulders sagged more and more.

Lewis wanted to ask, to demand answers, but he was terrified of pushing Vienna further away. Instead, he tried to bring back the lightness they once shared. He left little notes around the apartment whenever he'd leave for a race, reminders that she was loved.

But it never seemed to be enough. The more he tried to reach her, the further she drifted. And late at night, when the house was quiet, Lewis lay awake, staring at the ceiling and wondering how long it would be before she was completely gone.

Lewis tried to convince himself more and more that it was temporary, that maybe she was just stressed or tired. But the signs became harder to ignore. The way her clothes seemed to hang loosely on her. The way she avoided mirrors. The way her smile, once so full of light, had become a rarity.

And Vienna's eyes...her beautiful eyes. They had lost their sparkle, replaced by a guarded darkness that Lewis couldn't seem to break through. He hated it. He hated feeling helpless.

One night, as they got ready for bed, he couldn't take it anymore. Vienna stood in front of the mirror, fixing her oversized hoodie, her fingers nervously playing with sleeves. Lewis sat on the end of the bed, watching her. The image of her standing there, her body so much smaller than he remembered before we was away for two weeks...Her cheeks were hollow, her skin pale...i it all made his chest tighten painfully.

"V", he said softly.

She froze at the sound of her nickname. For a moment, she didn't turn around. When she finally did, her expression was guarded, her arms crossing over her chest like she was trying to shield herself from him, almost knowing what he was about to bring up.

"What is it, Lew?" she asked, her tone neutral.

He hated that tone. It was so unlike her. "We need to talk," he said, his voice gentle but firm.

She sighed, looking down at the floor. "I'm fine," she whispered, refusing to meet his eyes.

"No," Lewis said, shaking his head. "You're not fine. I see it, V. I see you fading away and I don't know how to help you. But I need you to talk to me. Please."
