"Home is wherever I feel safe and I feel safe with you." Preface
Celine and Carlos weren't your average couple. Most people had some romantic love story about how they've met and how it was love at first sight, but that was the furthest thing from the truth for these two. Sure they had met a handful of times in the paddock, where they were less than nice to each other, but the story of these two originated from a weird and awkward place. They learned to fall in love, pushing and bettering each other.
Celine Leclerc, the youngest of the Leclerc family, hardly ever showed her face at one of her brothers races. Wanting to keep an eye out of the media and maintain some privacy for herself, she discreetly supported Charles and Arthur from the sidelines. While her three brothers mainly partook in racing and sports management, she pursued a passion of the arts, something she took from her late father Hervé. He made her fall in love with architectural art and pushed her to follow her dreams, even if it took her away from home.
It's safe to say that Celine grew up around three overprotective brothers. While she valued how much they cared about her, even if it was overwhelming at times. They always scared off potential boyfriends, monitored her curfew and make sure she was always chaperoned if she went out. Eventually with his rise to fame, she could hardly go out alone in Monaco without being recognized as 'Ferrari heartthrob', Charles Leclerc's younger sister. She decided to move to Italy for art school, get her degree and eventually move back to Monaco as a director of a well known Monégasque architectural firm.
If you asked the Leclerc brothers why they were so protective of their baby sister, they would simply reason that it was for her safety and for her own good. Her entire family knew that Celine was sensitive, naïve and overly trusting. When she first mentioned that she'd be moving to Italy for her degree, she was met with much resistance from her three brothers. As a result, Charles spent more time in Maranello in-between races, versus coming back to Monaco, so he can keep a close eye on his little sister.
Celine was closest to her middle brother Charles. She had a special place in his heart and despite being absent most of the time and traveling most of the year, he took the place of being her father figure after their own had passed. So when Celine told her family that she had received a job offer from a Monegasque firm, they couldn't be more thrilled that she was moving back home.
Carlos Sainz had officially signed for Scuderia Ferrari starting in the 2021 season. It was a promising team change for the young Spaniard who was eager to make his mark, while driving for the historical red team. Despite having some familiarity with each other, Carlos and Charles started off as strangers. The team dynamic shifted significantly with Sebastian Vettel's departure, introducing the two young drivers to race together, while also raising against each other.
