Zhu Tong held a piece of braised pork between his chopsticks.

At a round table, he was sitting next to Shao Ming.

Because Shao Ming was being surrounded, Zhu Tong was also forced into becoming one of the encircled.

The private room wasn't large, and with the entry of a few tall individuals, it quickly became crowded.

Some diners outside the private room had already put down their bowls and slipped away, while the bolder ones were peeking through the open door to see what was happening.

Zhu Tong looked up and swept his eyes around the room, spotting a familiar face—Yuan Shaozhao.

He glanced at Shao Ming, who remained unfazed, so Zhu Tong slowly continued putting the braised pork into his mouth.

The group being ignored: "..."

"Shao Ming!"

Someone called out with a livid expression.

Zhu Tong turned his head and said, "They're calling for you."

Shao Ming smiled, "Mm, I heard."

"Pfft."

The two acted as if no one else was there. Luo Su, standing by, snickered. "Yuan Shaozhao, can't afford to eat anymore? Come to beg Ming-ge for charity? What's wrong? Your family's gone bankrupt?"

"My family's doing just fine," Yuan Shaozhao coldly glanced at Luo Su. "But some people might truly be running out of money, huh?"

He turned his gaze toward Shao Ming as he spoke.

Luo Su frowned and stood up, "What do you mean?"

"Oh, you guys haven't heard?" A person next to Yuan Shaozhao pretended to be surprised. "He, Shao Ming, our esteemed academic god, his family's milk tea shop has been reported for having poppy seed ingredients in their products. It's currently under investigation."

"I've heard the number of people demanding compensation is overwhelming the shop. Who knows if they can afford to pay?"

"No worries! His mother is pretty impressive, after all!"

The surrounding people chimed in one after another. Yuan Shaozhao smiled smugly, letting them carry on.

He had specifically called these people to ridicule Shao Ming.

They charged 100 yuan per insult.

The group was barking like wild dogs.

"I've heard the academic god's mother gave birth to him when she was eighteen, and then married a man in his forties. Quite the unique taste, huh?"

"I also heard that old man went to prison a few years ago, and right after that, the academic god's family opened a milk tea shop. Wonder where the money came from..."

"Shut your damn mouths already!"

Before Shao Ming could react, Luo Su exploded, grabbing a chair to smash it at someone.

Shao Ming raised his hand to stop him.

"Ming-ge!" Luo Su fumed.

Zhu Tong was overwhelmed by the sudden information but could tell just how offensive the words were.

Just as he was about to speak, the smell of smoke stung his nose.

Yuan Shaozhao had somehow sat down beside him, cigarette in hand. After taking a puff, he casually placed his arm on the back of Zhu Tong's chair and smiled, "Shao Ming, I came to give you a heads-up. Aren't you going to thank me?"
