During the break between evening study sessions, students mainly engaged in conversations with one another.

Suddenly, someone burst through the back door of the classroom, carrying another student, instantly grabbing everyone's attention.

Even students from other classes in the hallway took notice.

"Who is carrying whom out?"

"Zhu Tong? What happened to him?"

"Hey, Zou Ling, what's going on?"

Luo Su glanced at the two empty seats in the corner of the classroom and called out to the girl who had just collected the assignments.

Zou Ling was still looking outside the hallway when she stammered, "I... I don't know. I just saw Zhu Tong clutching his stomach, and he seemed to be in a lot of pain."

Luo Su: "..."

Clutching his stomach? In a lot of pain?

Oh no! Could something serious have happened?

Downstairs in the teaching building, Shao Ming initially wanted to ask how Zhu Tong was doing, but the moment he opened his mouth, he swallowed his words as he looked down.

Zhu Tong was pressed tightly against him, his forehead resting against Shao Ming's neck.

His forehead was sweating, yet his skin felt cold to the touch.

Zhu Tong clutched Shao Ming's collar tightly, as if needing to curl up in this embrace for a little comfort, even while being held.

Shao Ming felt a pang of regret.

How did he not notice that Zhu Tong was in this much pain during the entire class?

The distance from Gongshui No. 1 High School to the county hospital wasn't far, but it was still a decent trek.

He tried to walk as steadily as possible.

Zhu Tong felt a sharp, twisting pain in his stomach, and even breathing heavily intensified the discomfort.

As he was carried, the slight bumps made him grip tighter, desperately trying to stabilize himself against his "support," to reduce the swaying of his body.

Before long, they arrived at the hospital.

The emergency room doctor, still on duty close to ten at night, was taken aback to see a student carrying what looked like a "koala" come through the door.

"What happened to him?"

Shao Ming replied, "I don't know."

The doctor raised an eyebrow.

"Then let him lie down for now."

The doctor stood up and pulled back a curtain, revealing a simple examination bed.

Shao Ming glanced at the clearly well-used bed, wondering how many people had lain on it during the day.

He frowned but didn't let go. "Is there a way to relieve his pain first?"

The doctor: "..."

What was up with this student?

How could he examine him if he wouldn't lie down?

Shao Ming soon realized his error and hesitated. "Is there a cleaner bed available?"

The doctor: "..."

The doctor led the two of them to a temporary ward.

"The sheets were changed this morning; no one has been in here. You can put him on this bed."
