Jiang Wan was different from the women living in luxurious mansions like Qin Manwen and the others. From her teenage years, she had been mixing with men. As she followed Zhu Shoushan into the Zhu family villa, she showed none of the reserved demeanor expected of a young lady. She crossed her legs as she sat on the sofa, holding a document folder in her hand.
Zhu Shoushan instructed the servant to pour tea for the guest, then sat down on the sofa beside Jiang Wan. Noticing her formal and business-like attitude, he slightly lowered his eyes and said, "If I'm not mistaken, Miss Jiang, your visit today seems to be for personal matters."
Jiang Wan adjusted her dress and smiled lightly, "Mr. Zhu, you're joking. In families like ours, what personal matters could there possibly be?"
"..."
Zhu Shoushan watched as she handed him the document folder directly.
Jiang Wan said, "This is a coastal shipping project in A City, a gesture of my sincerity. Mr. Zhu, feel free to take a look."
Zhu Shoushan didn't hesitate.
Since she claimed it wasn't a personal matter, he naturally had to respond with the appropriate business demeanor.
As he was flipping through the documents, someone brought over tea.
"Miss Jiang, please enjoy."
Jiang Wan tilted her head slightly and was about to take the tea when she suddenly saw the person serving it.
She paused, then chuckled softly, "This lady... must be Mrs. Zhu?"
Qin Manwen didn't expect her to recognize her. After a moment of surprise, a trace of joy flashed in her eyes that she couldn't hide. She composed herself and said, "Miss Jiang, you know me?"
Jiang Wan asked in return, "Doesn't Mrs. Zhu know me as well?"
"..."
This remark was rather unfriendly.
Though Jiang Wan was capable, she wasn't one to seek the limelight. Zhu Shoushan had never brought Qin Manwen to any important events because, in his mind, someone like Qin Manwen was unworthy of such occasions.
How did Qin Manwen know Jiang Wan?
Zhu Shoushan hadn't paid much attention at first, but now he cast a scrutinizing glance at Qin Manwen.
Qin Manwen was startled inwardly but maintained her composure. She said, "It's not surprising that I know Miss Jiang. When I have afternoon tea with Mrs. He and the others, they always mention you—so young and accomplished, admired by many."
Jiang Wan added, "It's not surprising that I know Mrs. Zhu either. Recently, I ran into Young Master Qin, Qin Junhong, at a bar."
Qin Manwen froze instantly.
Zhu Shoushan furrowed his brow but quickly regained his composure, asking casually, "Really? Quite the coincidence. Miss Jiang, do you and Junhong have a connection?"
"Not exactly," Jiang Wan replied, with a hint of meaning in her tone. "But speaking of it, I owe my acquaintance with your son to Young Master Qin."
Zhu Shoushan: "..."
His heart sank as he glanced at Qin Manwen again, then asked Jiang Wan, "What do you mean, Miss Jiang?"
Jiang Wan took a sip of tea and smiled, "Oh, it's nothing. When we were drinking at the bar, Young Master Qin suddenly mentioned his younger brother and even showed me his photo. He praised him endlessly. It seems he really likes his brother."
