A woman's footsteps suddenly rushed down the staircase.

"What happened?" Qin Manwen asked, alarmed as she hurried toward the scene. Seeing the red mark on Qin Junhong's face, her heart skipped a beat. Tentatively, she reached out and took Zhu Shoushan's arm. "Shoushan, what's going on? Can't we talk this through?"

Zhu Shoushan glared at her son. "Why don't you ask him what he's done?"

Qin Manwen turned toward her son.

Fuming with anger and indignation, Qin Junhong retorted, "All I did was ask someone I know to keep an eye on Tong Tong at school."

Qin Manwen was momentarily taken aback.

Keep an eye on Zhu Tong?

Though Zhu Shoushan had always forbidden them from meddling in Zhu Tong's school affairs, this seemed like a minor issue. Why such a big reaction?

She was about to offer a conciliatory word when Zhu Shoushan let out a bitter laugh. "Keep an eye? The person you sent is a lowlife with a gambling addiction! He's made such a mess of things that even the Old Master Cheng is aware of it now. And you—"

He raised his hand to strike again, but Qin Manwen quickly stepped in, gently holding his arm back. She spoke sternly to her son, "Junhong, what is this about?"

A person drowning in gambling debts and of poor character?

Had her son really sent someone like that to keep an eye on Zhu Tong?

How could he have made such a foolish mistake?

When Qin Junhong heard the words "drowning in gambling debts," his mind went blank with shock.

How did Zhu Shoushan find out about Zhou Sui's family situation? How could he have known so quickly?

He even mentioned it reaching the old master?

The old master...

As Qin Junhong thought of that man he'd only met once, an older yet dignified figure with an imposing presence, a chill ran down his spine.

How could he have forgotten about Old Master Cheng?

But hadn't Cheng Qingsong stayed out of Zhu Tong and his sister's affairs all these years? Although he had helped with Zhu Tong's school transfer, when had he become so involved?

Qin Junhong was filled with fear, but he reacted quickly. "What gambling debts? What bad character? Uncle Zhu, what are you talking about? The person I found is from Zhu Tong's school basketball team. I met him on the basketball court—he seemed like a good person..."

"A good person?" Zhu Shoushan's eyes nearly popped out of his head in anger. He suddenly opened his briefcase, pulled out a stack of photos, and forcefully threw them at Qin Junhong's face. "Is this what you call a good person? Take a good look!"

The stack of photos slapped Qin Junhong's face with a loud "smack," sliding off his face and scattering on the ground.

Qin Manwen glanced down and immediately went pale.

The photos showed a man in compromising situations with various women, as well as scenes of him gambling and smoking at a poker table.

How could Junhong know someone like this?

Qin Junhong had already guessed what these photos would show. He glanced at them, feigning disbelief and widening his eyes. "How... how could this be?"

Zhu Shoushan pressed on. "That man went around the school, claiming to be acting on your behalf to 'take care' of Zhu Tong. Are you really going to tell me you don't know him?"
