Alex POV

I woke up in my pen in my wolf form confused until the memory of what happened before I passed out came back to me. The thought continued to upset Artemis, which only fed into my feelings.

Artemis: "I swear to the Moon Goddess, if I get shot by another arrow, I'm going to rip off Clint's arm and beat him with it." Before I could reply, the barn door opened. I knew it was Natasha by her scent. I went to the back of our mind, not wanting to talk to her right now. I still felt betrayed and not completely sure what to do. Now that we found our mate, if we are separated too long it's a death sentence. "Don't worry Alex, I got this."

Right as Nat opened the pen door Artemis pounced on her and growled. Nat grunted from the impact with the barn door. Artemis stayed hovering over her, baring her teeth, but not making any other move.

Alex: "Don't kill her!" Alex panicked.

Artemis: "I won't kill her, dumbass. That's against everything we stand for. I just want to teach her a lesson."

Alex: "I've seen your "teaching a lesson," don't her."

Artemis: "Will you shut up and let me handle this. I won't hurt her. Now sit back and shut up."

Artemis POV

A gentle hand to the side of my face brought me out of my argument with my human. Goddess she can be annoying... but I'm stuck with her. Nat's hand continued to pet the side of my face, which was not fair whatsoever. I slowly started to melt at her touch, giving into her and almost forgetting what I'm upset about. I shook my head to get myself to focus back on what is important. Backing up away from her to give her enough space to sit up as I laid down in front of her. Continuing to glare at her. I need to stay focused on the problem and not just forgive her.

Nat: "Well, I guess I deserved that, and that glare. Even though you do look like an upset pup right now." she chuckled. I let out a huff at her and moved further away towards the back of the pen. "Oh, come on, I was just joking. You look like a very scary wolf." I wagged my tail at her, my goddess this is going to be harder than I thought. Natasha continued to compliment me more after noticing it helped calm me down.

Artemis: "Okay, never mind, I can't do this. You deal with her." Artemis said to Alex and forced her back into the front of her mind and forced them to shift back into human form with no warning.

Natasha POV

I knew that Alex or Artemis was not going to be happy when they woke up. Was I expecting to be pounced on though? Nope, that was a blindsided attack that I know I deserved. Looking up into the golden eyes of Artemis, I knew this could go one of two ways. One, I can sweet talk her into calming down, if everything she said about the mate bond thing was true, or she will be even more unhappy than I think with me and the Avengers go down to a team of 5, possibly 4 after Clint shot her again... I took a chance and reached up to the side of her face. Looking into her eyes she looked far away and lost in thought. After petting her a couple times her eyes focused back on me. She moved back far enough to let me up though, so I guess she won't kill me, yet anyway.

Looking at the glare she was sending me, I really couldn't take her seriously though. For a massive wolf, she looked like a sad little puppy. Which she did not find as funny as me. Once I played into her ego and complimented her. Her eyes suddenly flashed to the blue eyes I've grown to adore. She suddenly started to shift back into human form. I grabbed a blanket and threw it over Alex.

Alex: "Goddess! Artemis you asshole. A little warning would have been nice."

Nat: "You, ok? Looks and sounds painful."

Alex: "I will be in a minute. Artemis forced us to shift back, so it hurts more than normal. Way to feed her ego by the way. Not sure her head could get any bigger." She said while rolling her eyes. I couldn't help but chuckle.

Nat: "Well when I saw it was her, I thought she would either kill me or I could talk her into calming down."

Alex: "She wouldn't kill you. It would go against everything we stand for. Clint on the other hand... may want to stay away for a bit.

Nat: "So I take it she's not happy about getting shot again?"

Alex: "Let's just say that if he shoots us again, he will need to learn to live with one arm."

Nat: "Yeah, I've been thinking about putting a cap in his ass for shooting you. I still might do it, but not sure Laura will be ok with it."

Alex: "I think she loves us more than Clint. I'll just have Artemis give her the puppy eyes. I'm sure everything will be fine after that. Could even get the kids to do it with me." I laughed at the thought of the three of them lined up giving Laura puppy dog eyes. They would probably get away with murder.

Nat: "We do need to talk though." Alex sighed and nodded. She sat down still wrapped in a blanket. I went and sat down in front of her so she would look at me. "I never told him your full name. I really don't know how he found out. When we came here from the tower, it was to protect you and to get you away from the boys. Clint had to come, because it's his home and it was the only way we could talk Laura into letting us come here. Everything you have told me, anything that was personal and your story to tell, is between you and me. I have not told anyone to put anything into writing. That's your story to tell, not mine. I had a feeling Fury was going to show up eventually, and knowing him, I had a feeling he would try and talk you into joining the team."

Alex: "Why didn't you tell me."

I let out a sigh. "I thought we would have more time. I have been intentionally slacking on my report. The only thing I had given were basics. Your first name, what you were and that's pretty much it. Anything that would be basic knowledge was what I reported. The "test" was going to be the next thing."

Alex: "So anything that would have been discovered after a bit of time together?"

Nat: "Yeah, but I didn't give your full name. I only reported Alex, and I didn't include Artemis in it because I wasn't sure you would want me to."

Alex: "Who knows? Who would see that report?"

Nat: "Fury would see it first, then knowing him, report what he wanted to the team. After that he would probably tell Hill, after that, I don't know. That's why I didn't put as much as I normally would in the report." Alex looked down and let out a deep sigh. She looked back up to me after a minute.

Alex: "Do you trust him?"

Nat: "Fury has grown to become a father figure for me. I trust him with my life."

Alex: "Okay."

I looked at her confused and maybe a little shocked.

Nat: "Okay?"

Alex: "I will hear him out... for you, I will hear him out and make sure Artemis chills out. If he goes against us though, I can't promise she will stay calm though.

Nat: "Why don't we get you changed, then the four of us will sit down and talk." We started to make our way back to the house so Alex could change.

Alex: "How many bow and arrows does he have?"

Nat: "I'm not sure. Why?"

Alex: "Oh, no reason. Was just wondering." I noticed that Alex's eyes glazed over for a minute. Must be when she is talking to Artemis.

Artemis: "I hope he's not too attached to those damn things..."
