The Flames of Friendship (Natsu's Sister Fanfic)

The Cave

It had been around two hours since the storm and the sun shone bright as Sue cracked her eyes open.

"Yay!!! I'm all better!!! Thanks everyone, truly!" Exclaimed Sue. Her face suddenly turned green and she collapsed on the deck. "Hey Erza..you got any plants in that bag of yours that cure motion sickness aghhhh.." Groaned Sue.

"I'm afraid not kiddo." Smiled Erza, as the patted Sue's back.

Suddenly Alzack yelled, "There! It's Tenrou Island!" 

MiraJane held up a communication lacrima and yelled, "Guys its the old man!!!"

Inside the glass sphere was the image of Master Makarov. "Listen up brats! The boat won't take you any further. You did well with the storm, but you still have a long way till S-class! Hidden around the entire islands are 8 waterfalls. Behind each waterfall are caves. You must enter those caves. Once you do a red X will cover the exit. Once you enter the cave you will meet up with another examine. You will fight. Whoever wins will have the right of passage to go on. This is the elimination round. That is all. I will see you on the other side. Good Luck!!!" And with that the lacrima returned blank.

"What are you waiting for? An invitation? Well you just got one! Come on!!!" Whispered MiraJane to Loke. 

"Coming Beautiful!!!" Cooed Loke. 

Mira turned into her Satan's Soul, picked up Loke, and flew towards the island.

Jet and Droy seemed to have gotten the hint because the next thing you know Jet was swimming as fast as he could run and a large vine was sprouting out of the boat and carried Droy towards the island.

"What are we waiting for Wakaba? Hurry, before we're last." Said Macao as he ran towards the edge of the boat. As he was about to hop out of the boat and jump into the water, he crashed into an invisible wall. Shining letters of a different language or code began to appear above Macao's head.

"These are my runes!" Said Freed. "But don't worry I'm not completely heartless you will only be stuck for 20 minutes. See you on the island!" And with that he flew away with EverGreen.

"Hey, that's not fair!" Yelled Elfman.

 "Jerks!!!" Yelled Bickslow. 

"Shhh!" Hushed Levy. "I'm trying to decode the runes!" 

"You can actually do that? Awesome!!!" Everyone cheered. 

"There all done!" Sighed Levy. "But only for me and Cana!" She grinned as Cana and her hopped off the boat and began swimming towards the island. 

"Heyyyyyy that's no fair come back!!!" Yelled everyone.

Back on the island...
MiraJane and Loke...

"Damn it, where is it???!" Scowled MiraJane.

"My love, you are even more beautiful when you're angry!"

"Shut up! C'mon let's keep looking!"

"Well you don't have to look very far!" Said Loke pointing at a waterfall that was rapidly pouring in the distance.

They flew into the dark, eerie cave. "It's too dark! I can't see anything! Shouldn't there be lights?" Mumbled MiraJane. 

Suddenly she bumped into something that stopped her in her tracks. She looked up in horror and whispered, "Holy........."

Back to the boat...

Everyone on the boat was bummed out and ticked off. 

"When do we get to go?!" Complained Gray.

 "Screw that MiraJane!!!" Scowled Erza.

Suddenly the runes disappeared in a shatter of bright yellow light. 

"The 20 minutes are over!" Yelled Bisca. 

Everyone hopped out of the boat one by one except Natsu and Sue who we're still struggling to get to their feet.

"Crap I can't believe we're gonna be last!!!" Said Natsu.

Sue found her balance, picked up Natsu, and flew towards the island. They flew to the top of the tree that was planted in the center of the island. When they were at the top they saw that there were 7 red crosses hanging over 7 waterfalls.

"What?! I knew we were slow but I had no idea we were dead last!" Exclaimed Natsu.

"C'mon Natsu! There is the last waterfall." Sue pointed at a small waterfall covered in vines.

She flew straight through the wall of water. She heard a sizzling noise as her fiery wings disappeared into a cloud of steam. They both went hurdling toward the bottom of the waterfall. 

"I guess that was pretty dumb. Water plus fire; what did I think was gonna happen. Sorry Natsu." Said Sue with a sheepish grin. "Wait, look up! Is that a vine that leads into the waterfall?" 

"C'mon Sue! Let's climb it!" Said Natsu.

"I don't know bro. It looks too easy to me. This is the S class exam after all."

"It'll be fine, we have to hurry, we're already late."

 "Oh well! Lets go!"

They climbed up the waterfall and into the cave. Inside they saw an enormous creature that looked like the mutation of a squid and a weeping willow mixed together. Instead of tentacles it had.... vines?

"Wait don't tell me? The vine we climbed was his. I am so sorry sir we really had no idea, honest!" Exclaimed Sue.

 The monster roared with such power it made the walls of the cave shake. The creature had 8 vines that were rapidly slashing at both of them. " Wait a minute! I have an idea!" Exclaimed Sue.

She began to fly in circles around the beast. The beast slung one of his vines at her but she kept flying around and dodging it until the monster's vine was tied into a knot and it couldn't move it. 

"Yay! I get it!" Yelled Natsu, who had just realized what was going on. 

"C'mon Natsu there are still 7 to go!" Said Sue with a big toothy grin. They ran in circles until all of the monster's vines were so knotted he couldn't move.

"You ready Natsu?" Asked Sue. "You bet Sue!!!" "3,2,1... Roar of the Fire Dragon!!!" They both yelled as a wave of fire covered the squid creature.

The poor monster was left immobilized, unconscious, and with a really bad sun burn. And together Natsu and Sue ventured off into the cave.

"Well, there's no turning back now." Said Natsu, seeing  a red X covered the exit. 

"Well we won't need to! Let's win this thing!!!" Yelled Sue as her voice resonated through the cave.
