The Magic Circle

Natsu POV~

"Wait Gildarts, what does this all mean??? I don't understand! What aren't you telling me? Who are you?" I yelled through the stream of teleporter light that began to envelope me and Sue.

"I promise I'll tell you everything when the time is right." Sighed Gildarts as a flash of light completely engulfed me and Sue.

When the light vanished we found ourselves back on the island, in the shade, underneath a large oak tree.

There I saw Erza and Gray getting wrapped in medical bandages by an old woman with pink hair tied up in a tight pink bun. This must be the Fairy Tail medic, Porlyusica . The two kids looked badly beaten and exhausted with bruises covering their limbs and scratches covering the rest of their bodies. I figured we probably didn't look any better. Lying on the mossy floor, underneath the tree lie MiraJane and Loke. They were unconscious, and also seemed to have had a hard time in the semi-finals.

I carried Sue to Porlyusica and sat down next to Gray and Erza. 

"What happened?" I asked. 

"We fought Mystogan. We managed to stay awake long enough to land a couple hits and he passed us.I can't decide whether he did it out of pity or to get rid of us but I'm exhausted!" Said Erza as she closed her eyes and fell back against the grass.

I turned to Gray, "And what happened to MiraJane and Loke?" 

He shook his head, "They faced Makarov." 

My eyes widened, "Oh god..." 

"What about you guys?" Asked Gray, pointing to Sue, who's head lay motionless on Porlyusica's lap, getting wrapped in bandages.

I heard Porlyusica mumble, "That foolish Gildarts! He took it too far...These are just children and I have to do his dirty work when he's done breaking their bones. Just wait till I get my hands on him.."

"WHAT?! You guys face Gildarts?!" Said Gray in astonishment. "I get this is a test to become an S class wizard but isn't that a little harsh. C'mon, he is the strongest wizard in Fairy Tail!"

Erza opened her eyes and sat up, "How was it?"

"Well it wasn't easy, but Sue really pushed herself past her limit and somehow impressed him enough to let us pass! As you can tell though, she took quite a beating." I said staring down at Sue. "The weirdest thing happened to...I realized Gildarts smelled like..."

I was interrupted by a violent trembling of the earth.

"What the hell is going on!" Howled MiraJane as she sprung awake.

I saw a red glow of light come from above. 

"What the..." Directly above me was a red laser that bolted precisely to the spot Sue lay unconscious.

"Watch out!!!" I yelled as I scooped Sue up, avoiding the blast of the light.

The ground where she had been formed a small crater where the laser landed. For a moment, the red light remained paralyzed. Then it moved. It appeared to be moving away from our camp, in a meticulous, steady motion. It appeared to be engraving something into the dirt.

After approximately 10 minutes, the rumbling ceased and the light vanished. 

Sue cracked open her eyes, "What's goin on everyone? Whats with all the noise." She asked in a hoarse voice.

"We have to go check it out! This could be part of the exam, but if not, I have a feeling we're in serious danger." Yelled MiraJane. She grabbed Erza by the arm and flew upwards.
