A New Warmth

Warm.
Huh? Wait... wasn’t I just in the forest?

“Ehhhh?! Where… am I?”

When I came to, I found myself lying on a plain wooden bed in a modest little room. The walls were made of rough wooden planks, and soft sunlight filtered through the window. It was calming... but also confusing.

I heard footsteps approaching. The door creaked open slowly.

A woman stepped inside—wow. She was beautiful. Her long brown hair flowed gently down her back, and her sparkling green eyes radiated warmth. She smiled at me.

"Dear, look! The baby’s awake. She’s so cute~"

"Really? I’ll come see," replied a man’s voice from the other room.

Moments later, a man entered. He had bright blond hair and sky-blue eyes. His white shirt looked a little worn, but he still had this charming aura about him.

"Wow… you’re adorable. Good thing a monster didn’t eat you. What happened, huh? Why was a sweet little baby like you all alone in the forest?"

His gentle voice reached my ears, though my mouth still couldn’t speak. Still, I understood—these people had saved me. Brought me into their home.

"Dear, why don’t we give her a name?" the woman suggested.

"Let’s see... She has blond hair and blue eyes... Hmm. How about Avrora? Sounds fitting, right?"

Avrora... So that’s my name now?

“Avrora, huh… What a lovely name. Starting today, I’m your mother, Avrora-chan~”

Mother… She called herself my mother. For some reason, my chest felt warm. This unfamiliar feeling… it was nice.

“And I’m your father now too, Avrora-chan,” said the man, leaning closer to my face.

Wait—hey! Don’t come any closer! That’s gross, you know!?

But he kissed me anyway... on the cheek, of course. I mean, I am a baby now. Still, it felt strange—being kissed by a grown man. But… he’s my father now. Oddly enough, I didn’t feel angry. Actually, it made me feel calm.

Then the woman—no, my mother—picked me up and kissed me too.

Ahh~ You can kiss me all you want, Mom. You’re so pretty and warm… and soft. (W-Wait, what is my hand touching? Is that... her chest?!)

Even so, it didn’t feel weird. Maybe because she’s my mom now… and also, maybe because I’m a girl too?

Three Years Later

Every night, I heard... those sounds. Moans, whispers, heavy breathing—ahhh! They do it every night! So loud! Can’t they be a little quieter!?

...Well, whatever. They’re husband and wife. It’s normal, I guess.

I’m three years old now. I can speak fluently and move around easily. I spend my days playing around our home, which sits in a quiet countryside village in the Kingdom of Neverland. It’s a small village, but rich in soil and full of kind people.

My father, Dart, is an adventurer. He often goes into labyrinths to hunt monsters and sell the materials he collects. My mother, Livy, is a gentle and caring housewife who takes care of the home—and of me.

Today, I went to the market with Dad. I rode on his shoulders like a little queen.

"Good morning, Avrora-chan! You’re getting so big. Here, have an apple," said an old fruit vendor lady, handing me a shiny red apple.

"Thank you, Ma’am! Ehehe~" I said with a smile.

"Mmm~ So sweet!"

A man at another stall greeted me next.

"Morning, Avrora-chan! Here, have some candy."

"Thanks, Mister~" I replied cheerfully.

He gently patted my head.

"You’re too cute, Avrora-chan!"

Yeah, everyone at the market really likes me. I feel like the village mascot.

"You’ve gotten popular, Avrora-chan," Dad chuckled.

"Really? That’s probably because you always bring me along, right?"

Dad smiled. "Are you happy?"

"I'm super happy! Thanks, Dad!"

---

The next morning, during breakfast…

"Dad, are you going to the labyrinth today?" I asked.

"Nope, I’m taking the day off. Why?"

"Then... can you teach me how to use a sword? I want to be an adventurer like you!"

Dad froze. His eyes widened in disbelief.

"Avrora... being an adventurer is dangerous."

"Yeah, your father’s right," Mom added with concern in her voice.

"I know... but I still want to learn."

"Please, Dad~!" I put my hands together and gave him my biggest puppy eyes.

He looked conflicted, but eventually nodded.

"Alright. If you’re that serious, let’s begin."

"Yay! Thank you, Dad!"

Mom still looked worried, but Dad reassured her.

"Don’t worry. We’re just doing some light training. Nothing dangerous."

---

Training began. Dad handed me a small wooden sword.

[NOTIFICATION: Sword Skill Acquired]

Huh?! A notification?! Just like in a game?! Is this a perk of living in a new world!?

As soon as I gripped the sword, my body felt lighter. Dad demonstrated the basic movement, and I copied him.

"Hup!"

Swish — my swing was perfect.

"...Huh?" Dad stared in disbelief.

"Avrora… You copied me perfectly? On your first try?!"

Oops. Got a little too excited. I guess it is weird for a three-year-old to suddenly be good with a sword…

"A-Ahaha, maybe it was just luck~" I replied with a stiff smile.

But Dad smiled warmly.

"You’re really talented, Avrora. If you keep training, you’ll grow up to be an amazing adventurer."

I nodded enthusiastically.
"Okay! I’ll keep training hard. Please teach me, Dad!"
