The Awakening of the Demon Vampire

The moment I entered the System, a strange scene unfolded before me. The sky stretched endlessly, filled with gigantic floating cubes, each glowing with a cold blue light. But I had no time to be amazed.

The System Guardians appeared instantly. Towering, silver-armored warriors with fairy-like wings, their eyes held no mercy. Their numbers—overwhelming. And without warning, they attacked.

Reflexively, I tried to summon my weapon—but nothing appeared in my hand.

“What’s happening?!” I shouted in panic.

> “Weapons are physical. Here, you are only a soul. You can’t use your powers or any physical tools,” Ai-chan explained in her usual calm voice.

You’ve got to be kidding me… Then how am I supposed to survive?!

> “That depends on your resolve, Avrora.”

One of the guardians struck me. I was sent flying, crashing hard into one of the massive cubes.

“Damn it... this is a nightmare!”

The guardians surrounded me from all sides. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t fight.

“What am I supposed to do…?”

As they all prepared to strike at once, Ai-chan suddenly pulled me out of the System, forcefully closing the gate.

I collapsed back into my subconscious. My soul-body trembled. My breath came in gasps.

“Damn it… why am I so weak...”

Tears streamed down my face. But I wouldn’t give up. I screamed at Ai-chan.

“OPEN THE GATE AGAIN! Why did you pull me out?!”

> “You idiot! If I hadn’t, you would’ve died.”

“I don’t care! If I don’t go back... my mother will die!”

> “Enough! You’ll die a meaningless death!”

“I’d rather die than let my mother be murdered!”

Ai-chan tried to restrain me, wrapping me in bindings, trying to keep me from acting rashly.

> “Avrora… I can’t let you destroy yourself…”

I screamed, sobbed, and thrashed—and then, something inside me exploded. A mysterious power surged from deep within. The bindings shattered. I stood up and slammed my fist into the System Gate with all my might.

“HUAAARGHH!! BREAK!!”

CRAAAAASH!!

The gate shattered. Even Ai-chan was stunned.

> “Impossible… She broke the System’s gate with soul force?”

I stared straight ahead.

“Then witness my resolve.”

I charged back into the System. The guardians came at me again. But this time, I fought back. I punched each one with newfound strength. Yet their numbers didn’t dwindle. I was overwhelmed again—pinned by relentless attacks.

“Ai-chan!! You idiot! Why are you just watching?!”

> “You’re such a hassle... Fine, I’ll help you.”

A blinding light appeared. Ai-chan transformed into a massive scythe, floating into my hand.

“Finally…”
