Blue Flame and the Secret Within

After crying my heart out in Mom's arms, I felt so much better. The weight on my chest had vanished. I didn't want to think about anything complicated today. There was only one thing on my mind-I wanted to learn magic!

"Avrora, are you ready to start learning magic?" Mom asked gently with a warm smile.

"Yes! I'm ready, Mom!" I replied enthusiastically.

"Alright then, watch this closely."

Mom raised her palm-and in an instant, a ball of water materialized in mid-air, flowing smoothly like crystal-clear liquid.

"Waaahhh... Amazing!"

I stared in awe. This was the first time I had ever seen someone use magic in real life. Something that had only existed in games and fairy tales... was real in this world.

"You saw that, Avrora?" Mom asked.

"I saw it! But... how did you do that?"

Mom looked at me seriously. Her tone shifted to a calm, deeper one.

"Listen carefully. The foundation of magic is the ability to manipulate nature-matter, events, even physical phenomena. Magic is divided into seven primary elements: Water, Fire, Wind, Lightning, Ice, Earth, and Darkness."

I listened intently, like I was sitting through a divine-level physics lecture.

"To cast magic, you must focus your energy into a single point-usually your hand-and visualize the element you want to create. For example, since I have the Water element, I can combine hydrogen and oxygen to form water. Then, I simply imagine its form and purpose."

Mom raised her hand again.

"Water Ball!"

A sphere of water formed and shot toward a tree, crashing into it with a loud splash!

"That's so cool!" I exclaimed.

"Now you try, Avrora. I'll be watching over you."

I closed my eyes. I wanted to try fire.

Fire is a chemical reaction between oxygen, heat, and a flammable material.
I imagined the combustion process. Gas, maybe? That made sense. I mentally constructed the reaction.

As I opened my eyes-woosh!

"Mom! Look! I did it! M-My hand is on fire!"

Mom was clearly shocked.

"That... that's blue fire? How beautiful..."

I was puzzled. "Huh? Is blue fire rare, Mom?"

Blue fire... maybe it appeared because I imagined gas combustion. Then what would happen if I imagined other materials like magnesium, sulfur, or... carbon disulfide?

This... is so interesting.

"Ahaha, I surprised myself too, Mom!"

"Alright, now try changing its shape. Visualize the flame forming into a ball."

"Okay!"

I focused. I used visualization. I imagined the fire turning into a ball...

And-BOOM!

A giant fireball formed in front of me, swelling instantly.

"Eh!? Why is it so big!? Mom! What's happening!?"

"Avrora! Put it out-now! It's dangerous!" Mom shouted in panic.

"How do I do that!?"

"Focus your energy and pull it back! Stop the flow immediately!"
