A New Beginning at the Academy

“Father… I’m already strong enough. Do I still need to attend the academy?” I asked, looking up at him.

Father gave a gentle smile and softly patted my head.
“I know you’re strong, Avrora. But until now, you’ve only learned from your mother and me. Who knows—if you go to the academy, you might discover something more than just strength.”

His words made me think. It’s true that I’ve only ever studied at home. But...

“But... can you afford to send me there? I heard only nobles can enter. And I’m... just a commoner.”

Father let out a sigh, then smiled again.

“Did you forget? You killed a dragon yesterday. Its materials are extremely rare and valuable. The money from selling them is enough to cover your tuition until graduation. So, there’s no need to worry.”

“Eh? Really? Then... I want to go to school!” I shouted with excitement.

Father grinned and ruffled my hair.
“Great! We’ll apply tomorrow.”

But that smile faded quickly when Mother spoke up, her expression filled with worry.

“Wait a moment, dear... If Avrora goes to the academy, they’ll find out she has more than one magic element. Wouldn’t that be dangerous?”

Father fell silent, and his face turned serious.
“You’re right... How could I forget? Damn…”

Hearing that, my heart sank. The hope that had just begun to shine suddenly dimmed again.

“Avrora... I’m sorry, but maybe it’s better if you stay here. I don’t want to put you in danger.”

Seeing the sadness on my face, Mother gently took my hand to comfort me.

“Don’t be discouraged, sweetie. If you can’t go to the academy, I can call the best tutors to our home. You can still learn a lot here.”

But… why does it have to be like this? Why was I born as a vampire? Why do I have such great power if it only ends up locking me away?

“Why are you regretting your power, you idiot!” Suddenly, Ai-chan’s voice echoed in my head.

“Eh? Ai-chan, now’s not the time to tease me…”

“If you want to hide your power from others, leave it to me.”

“Eh? Really?!”

“Of course. I can mask your status. People will only see you as having one magic element.”

“Seriously?! Thank you so much, Ai-chan!”

“Hehe~ I’m going back to sleep now.”

[Notification: Skill ‘Fake’ has been acquired.]

Suddenly, a system window popped up in front of me. A new skill? This must be Ai-chan’s doing!

“Yosh… time to give it a try.”

[Skill ‘Fake’ activated.]

“Mom, can you check my magic again?”

“Eh? Why, sweetie?”

“I can hide my power now. Try checking.”

Mother looked at me doubtfully, but eventually took my hand and closed her eyes. A few seconds later, her expression changed to shock.

“This… I can only see the Water element in you?!”

“Really?! Yatta! It worked!”

Father came closer, clearly surprised.
“Sweetie, are you sure? Only the Water element?”

“Yes. No other elements.”

He paused, then his smile returned.

“In that case, Avrora, you can go to the academy!”

Mother just shook her head and laughed softly.
“I don’t even know what to say anymore… You really are amazing, Avrora.”

“Yosh! Then we’ll leave tomorrow!” Father declared with enthusiasm.

“Hoooooo!!” I raised my hand high, full of energy.
My adventure as an academy student... was about to begin.

---

The Next Day

That morning, I got ready to leave. I wore plain clothes, nothing like what nobles would wear. But my heart burned with determination.

The academy was located at the center of five great kingdoms: Neverland, Zoyaland, Underand, Rondland, and Valderland. Together, they had built the Knight Academy—an institution to train future heroes.

Since I had to live in the dorms, I brought some clothes and essential items. But… what if I didn’t get accepted? I heard they only took talented students, and there would be an entrance exam…

“Yosh! I’m ready!”

Suddenly, my little sister Alice rushed in and hugged me tightly.

“Onee-chan! Where are you going?! Don’t leave me!”

“Alice… don’t be like this. I’m just going to school, not disappearing forever.”

“No! I don’t want you to go!”

“Come on, Alice…”

Then, Father’s voice came from outside the room.
“Avrora! What’s taking so long? We need to leave!”

He stepped inside and saw Alice still clinging to me.

“Ahaha… as you can see, Alice doesn’t want to let me go.”

Father crouched down and looked into Alice’s eyes gently.

“Alice-chan, your sister is just going to the academy. She’ll be back during the holidays, I promise. So don’t worry, okay?”

Alice looked at me, her eyes brimming with tears.
“Promise you’ll come back?”

I stroked her head and smiled, even though my chest felt tight.

“I promise. I’ll come home.”

“…Okay,” Alice murmured, slowly letting go of me.

“Well then… let’s go, Avrora,” said Father.

“Okay!”

Before I left, Mother gave me a tight hug.

“Take good care of yourself, Avrora. Don’t skip meals, don’t push yourself too hard… and if you ever feel lonely, just come home.”

I couldn’t hold back my tears. I hugged her even tighter.

“Thank you, Mom…”

After that, I opened a portal through space and time.

“Bye-bye! Mom, Alice!”

“Take care!” they replied, waving their hands.

And so, Father and I set off.

---

We arrived in a forest near the academy, a safe place to open the portal without being seen. From there, we walked toward the main gate.

The road leading to the academy was filled with luxurious carriages. All the students were dressed elegantly—children of nobility from the five kingdoms.

Only I walked on foot.
Only I wore simple clothes.
Am I... the only commoner here?

Soon, we reached the large gates.

“Wow… this is the Knight Academy…”

My eyes were drawn to the massive statue of a hero standing in front of the school. The classical-style buildings towered proudly, adorned with carvings and beautiful stained glass. The place was lively… but it also made me nervous.

‘Do I really belong here?’

I took a deep breath.

“Alright… let’s go in.”
