Prologue

Today, I found myself standing in the middle of a vast, green meadow. I stumbled upon this place by chance while wandering around. Who would've thought such a peaceful and beautiful spot existed so close by?

A gentle breeze swept across my face, rustling my hair softly. As far as the eye could see, the endless field of grass swayed gracefully under the wind. Above me, the sky stretched wide and clear-bright blue, like it carried no burden at all.

I lay down on the grass and gazed silently at the sky.

> "Hmm... so refreshing..."

The air here is so calm and soothing. I never expected a place like this to bring me such peace.

It's been sixteen years since I started living in this world. Sometimes it still feels like a dream. Back then, I was a handsome, popular guy in school. I was smart, admired-everything seemed perfect. But all of that changed when I died and was reincarnated... as a vampire girl.

A lot has happened since then. It was hard at first-confusing, unfamiliar, and filled with rejection. But now, I've grown used to it. No... more than that-I've come to enjoy the life I live now.

Since arriving in the Kingdom of Valdead, I've been observing how the people here live. At first, I believed demons and monsters were evil creatures, just like the stories humans always tell. But the truth is-they're not so different from humans. They laugh, cry, work hard, and love-just like anyone else.

Maybe humans hate them simply because of how they look or how different they are. They never even try to communicate. This world is too quick to judge based on appearances alone.

I sat up from the grass. I can't just keep lazing around forever.

I've been in Valdead for a week now, exploring every corner of it. And after seeing its potential, I've made a decision-I want to rebuild this kingdom into a place worth living in. But I can't do it alone.

I need someone who specializes in development and infrastructure. Maybe I should visit King Aldric of Neverland and ask for his cooperation.

Even if I'm not exactly thrilled to see that guy... it's something I must do.

On top of that, I want to teach the people here how to farm. They can't keep relying on hunting or dark magic forever.

About that... I have an idea. Maybe Dart's father could help. I remember seeing him assist the farmers in my old village. He's experienced in agriculture, and I'm sure he'd be a great teacher here.

Well, I guess I should head back to the castle.

...Wait.

I suddenly felt something. A gaze. Someone's watching me from behind the trees at the edge of the field.

I narrowed my eyes.

> "You there, behind the tree. Show yourself!"

A woman slowly emerged from the shadows. She wore a sleek black dress. Her short, jet-black hair framed her pale face, and her crimson eyes locked onto mine. A vampire... just like me.

> "Who are you? Why were you hiding?" I asked cautiously.

She smiled softly, though her eyes remained sharp.

> "Forgive me if I startled you. My name is Rose. I'm from the vampire race. I heard that you're the new ruler of this kingdom?" she said politely. But then, her expression turned serious.
"However, I won't acknowledge you just yet. I need to see your strength for myself."

> Swoosh!

Without warning, Rose lunged at me with her sword drawn. I quickly dodged the attack, leaping back.

Her face twisted in frustration.

> "Tch, that must've just been luck," she muttered to herself.

I let out a sigh.

> "If that's what you want... then so be it."

I summoned my scythe from the dimensional space-a massive black weapon, radiating a dark, ancient aura.

Rose froze. Her eyes widened in disbelief, as if she recognized it.

> "That... there's no mistaking it..." she whispered.
"That weapon... it belongs to the Ancestor..."

She suddenly dropped to her knees.

> "Forgive me... You-You must be the Ancestor of our race!"

> "Eh?" I blinked, confused.

> "The Ancestor is a pureblood vampire, a legendary figure. Our progenitor. No one knows where they are, or if they're even still alive... but only they possess a scythe like that."

I paused for a moment.
Could it be... because I evolved into a stronger form, she mistook me for this Ancestor? What a hassle...

I laughed nervously.

> "Ahaha... I see. So that's how it is?"

Suddenly, Rose's face turned solemn.

> "Ancestor... please allow me to serve you. I wish to stay by your side... and dedicate my life to you."

> "Ehhhhh?!" I gasped.
"Are you sure about this, Rose?"

> "I'm certain. Just being near you is enough for me."

Seeing her resolve, I couldn't bring myself to say no.

> "Alright then... If that's what you truly want, you may come with me, Rose."

A bright smile bloomed on her face.

> "Thank you so much, Ancestor! I promise to serve you with all my heart."

I smiled back at her.

> "You don't need to call me 'Ancestor'. Just call me Avrora."

> "Understood, Avrora-sama!" Rose replied with a gentle smile.

And just like that, I returned to the castle with Rose by my side. When we arrived, I introduced her to all of my subordinates.

From that day forward, Rose officially became one of us.
