Chapter 4

The Final Test and the Beginning of an Adventure

It’s been eleven years since I was reincarnated into this world. I’m sixteen now. I used to be a man… and honestly, I never imagined I would grow into such a cute and beautiful girl.

Ever since I became a girl, I’ve stopped feeling the things I used to experience as a man. My body, my mind, even my instincts—they’ve all changed. Maybe because, biologically, I really am a girl now.
But there’s one thing that hasn’t changed… my memories of my previous life.

Even so, I’ve started to get used to living as Avrora. I don’t want to keep looking back. The past can stay in the past.
What matters now is living this life well.

I also have a little sister now—she’s ten years old. Her name is Alice. She’s absolutely adorable.

So much has happened over these past eleven years. Secretly, I’ve been going into the forest to train by fighting monsters. Now, I’ve reached level 70. I can use all elemental magic now—even dark magic… though I’ve kept all of this a secret from Mom and Dad.

Unfortunately, I’ve never entered a labyrinth before. Dad won’t allow it.
He said I could only go if I managed to defeat him in battle.
What a pain!

But today, Dad just so happens to be home. This is… my chance!

“Dad! Remember your promise? If I beat you, I get to go to the labyrinth, right?”

Dad looked at me intently, then gave a small smile.

“Of course I remember. Why? Are you challenging me now?”

My heart pounded like crazy, but I nodded firmly.

“Yes, Dad! I want to fight now!”

Dad’s eyes turned serious.

“Alright then. Let’s go to the forest. This will be your final test, Avrora.”

I nearly jumped for joy. Finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for!

Once we arrived at the forest, we immediately got ready.

“Avrora, use everything you’ve got. I won’t hold back—treat this as a real battle!”

“Understood!”

I took my stance and launched the first strike.

“Whoosh!”

My attack flew fast, but Dad blocked it effortlessly.

“Your strikes are still too soft,” he said.

He countered with a spinning kick. I dodged swiftly and attacked again. But no matter how many times I tried, none of my strikes could get past his defenses. I was starting to get frustrated.

“Is that all you’ve got? If it is, you better give up on going to the labyrinth!” Dad taunted.

Ugh… that stung.

But his teasing only lit a fire in me.

“Fine then… I’ll use magic! This time, I’ll win!”

Dad grinned.

“Good. Show me everything you’ve got, Avrora!”

I quickly unleashed a fire spell, but Dad deflected it with his sword. He used his own magic too.
We fought at high speed, exchanging blows and dodging relentlessly.

Boom!
A burst of magic exploded through the forest.

As the smoke rose, Dad suddenly appeared and attacked me—

But it was just my illusion.

“Hah! That was just a shadow clone?!” Dad exclaimed in surprise.

I appeared behind him and struck, but again, he blocked me. I backed off and followed up with a deadly combo of water and lightning magic.

I purposely created puddles and channeled electricity through them. I knew his sword was metal—if he blocked, the current would pass through. And when he tried to dodge, I used earth magic to trap his feet.

“You never cease to amaze me, Avrora…” Dad muttered with a smile.

My spell was about to land. But just before it hit, I raised a wall of earth to block it myself.

Then, I pointed my sword at Dad, who couldn’t move.

“You’re defeated, Dad.”

Dad laughed.

“Yeah, I lost. You’re incredible, Avrora.”

I released the magic trap and smiled.

> “So… I passed, right?”

“Passed! Though it’s kind of cheating, using magic…”

“Hehe, like I could ever beat you without magic!”

Dad pinched my cheek.

“You little rascal! But seriously, you’re amazing.”

“Ow! That hurts!”

Dad laughed heartily. I laughed with him.

“Avrora-chan, you must be careful to hide your power. Never use all your magic unless it’s an emergency, understand?”

“Understood!”

“And… if you’re really serious about going to the labyrinth…”

I looked at him with hope in my eyes.

“I’ll go with you.”

“Yattaaa! Thank you, Dad!”

I threw my arms around him in a tight hug.
Finally, after all the training, the hard work, and the waiting…
My journey into the labyrinth is about to begin.
