I had to leave Harry to go into the school to talk about the new scheduling. Zayn forced me to take a shower and drove me there. I sat down in the back and Zayn sat next to me.
"It's been a few days, and I know most of you aren't ready to come back. Some really aren't ready to come back," Principal Marrco told us, looking directly at me when he spoke. "Students aren't ready to come back either. Plan for a two week break, staring today, to recover. On October 6th, we'll continue with the school year."
Zayn squeezed my arm. Principal Marrco talked over a few more points. I wasn't paying attention, but thankfully Zayn pulled me up when it was over.
"What do you want to eat? You're eating before you go back to the hospital," Zayn informed me.
I sighed. "I don't know. I'm not hungry. Just get whatever." I ran my fingers through his hair. "It's been five days. Five days. He's not awake yet. I need him to wake up, Zayn."
"You'll be okay, Louis. He's going to make it through this," Zayn tried to assure me. "He's a fighter. You know that. More than anyone."
"I know, I just... What if he doesn't wake up after this week? Are his odds going to be worse? Is he going to wake up if he doesn't wake up in the next two days?"
Zayn pulled over and turned to face me. "You can't think like that. You have to be positive he's going to wake up. He needs you supporting him, not doubting him. He loves you. You love him. He'll pull through for you."
I walked up to Harry's room slowly, hoping to see his green eyes when I sat down in the chair, grabbing Harry's hand like I always did. I loved him. I needed him. He was my entire world. If my world crashed, where would that leave me?
"Hazza, wake up, baby." My voice was steady, but I knew it wouldn't hold up for long. "I need you to wake up. Being here without you is torture. I hate waking up and not having you next to me. I need to see you smile again. I need to see you laughing in the car. I need you to wake up."
I sat there for hours until Zayn and Liam came to pull me away. I didn't want to leave him, but they knew I needed to go to sleep. In the car, I stared at the street, watching the lines pass while they tried to cheer me up. The second we got to their house, I went up to their spare room and curled into the blanket, tears already falling down my face.
Liam came into the room and sat on the bed. "Let me have your phone. I'm on call all night, so I'll be up. If they call, I'll wake you up. If I get called in, I'll bring it back. You know you don't want to sleep through the call." I pulled my phone from my pocket and handed it to him with moving the least amount possible. "He's going to wake up."
I nodded. I let go of a deep breath and then sniffled. "I need him, Liam."
"I know you do. He's going to make it."
I hope so. I really do. I squeezed my eyes shut and eventually I fell asleep, clutching the blanket like it could have possibly been Harry instead of some stupid blanket that has no connection to him.
When I woke up in the morning, I went downstairs and wrapped my arms around myself. Zayn and Liam looked surprised to see me up. "I was just about to wake you up. There's some good news waiting for you."
I froze. I didn't want to get my hopes up, but they were already sky high. "Harry woke up?"
Liam smiled and nodded. "Harry just woke up. The first thing he asked for was you. Let's go."
