“What was the downfall of Germany?” Tomlinson asked, sitting on a stool on the front of the room. No one was really paying attention, instead talking about some video that was going around the school. “Come on, phones down, or I'll take them for the period.”
A few students groaned as they set their phones down. Some ignored him all together and kept talking. “Okay, what is it? What has everyone talking?”
“Nothing,” a bunch of them chimed, setting their phones down. “Its nothing, Tomlinson.”
Niall elbowed me. “Have you seen the post?”
“What?” I asked. “I thought it was a video?”
Niall shook his head. “It's about you and Tomlinson.”
“What?” I repeated with more shock. “What the fuck does that mean?”
“Nothing. It's not true so it means nothing. Whoever made it is hella dumb,” Niall said with a shrug.
“Someone should tell me before I decide to give you guys a quiz.” Still no one spoke up, which was actually surprising. At the same time, this apparently involves him. “No? Really? Alright then.”
I raised my hand and Tomlinson raised an eyebrow before nodding at me. “Germany's downfall was the fact that Germany eventually betrayed every treaty they signed.”
Tomlinson actually looked amused, bit his lip and looked at the center of the room. “Anyone want to add to that?”
Someone did and Tomlinson let the situation go. As soon as class was over, Niall showed me the post, and I shook my head. “Who actually believes I would have done this?” I asked Niall as we walked to his truck.
“The whole school apparently. It spread so quickly.” He shrugged. “Don't react to it. Let it play itself out. It'll be old news by next week.”
“I hope so,” I mumbled. I didn't get why everyone was assuming so much about me and Tomlinson. I go to tutoring, so what? I had to of slept with him? There's almost always someone else there, even if it's only one other person.
Niall dropped me off at my house. “Call me if you need anything,” Niall reminded as I got out of the car.
“I will.” I wouldn't. It was just my parents arguing, hopefully. It wasn’t anything new to me. Plus, he's rescued me more times than I can count. “See you tomorrow.”
“Bye.” I closed his door and walked to my front door.
“I'm home!” I called, closing the door. I didn't get a response. I looked in the living room and saw it was empty, so I shrugged and went to my room, closing the door.
I flopped down onto my bed, letting my eyes close. I meant to rest for about five minutes, then get up and do some of my work, but of course it didn't work like that. I fell asleep, halfway off my bed.
“Oh, Harry,” I heard my mom say. I woke up and lifted my head, realizing I fell asleep half crouched over my bed. “Get some sleep,” she encouraged, patting my shoulder.
I rubbed my face. “I have homework,” I mumbled sleepily, then yawned.
“I'll let you stay home tomorrow. You can go to the library if you'd like and do your work, okay? You need to sleep, though love.”
As much as I wanted to take the offer, I couldn't. “I have a test tomorrow in third period. Plus a lab in fourth. Tomorrow's busy,” I mumbled.
“You'll be fine to stay home, Harry. Go to sleep.” I didn't argue and instead nodded, standing up long enough to sit on my bed and kick off my shoes. My mom tucked the blanket around me.
When my alarm went off the next morning I groaned and sat up. I panicked when I realized I neglected to study. “Fuck, why did I go to sleep?” I took a deep breath in, shaking my head.
I pulled out my textbook. I flipped through the pages but none of the information was actually sticking. I cursed at myself and closed the book, considering actually taking my mom up on her offer to stay home.
“No, you can't. You have to go. You have a test,” I told myself. Three seconds later, I shook my head. “But I'm still so tired.”
I texted Niall not to pick me up and tossed my phone on my night stand. I fell back into my bed, pulling the blanket around me. One day wouldn't kill anyone.
During seventh period Niall started texting me. Tomlinson asked where you are he sent.
Just tell him I'm sick I responded back, looking back to my laptop. This presentation was going to kill me. There was so much information we had to find for it, it's seemed unreal that it was due in just a few days. I was close to deciding that Mr. Malik just hated us.
Yeah I'm sure he's gonna buy that Niall texted.
What does that mean? I mouthed as I typed, then dropped my phone onto my bed. I groaned and shut my laptop, deciding I could finish that later. Besides that I was done for the night. I put my laptop on my nightstand and curled into my bed.
He just seems to know when people are lying plus I think he figured out what everyone was talking about
I rolled my eyes, dropping my phone. Niall needed to be paying attention anyways.
My phone buzzed and I sighed. People are wondering why you didn't show up today
I’m sick Niall end of story I shook my head. I closed my eyes and sighed. Why am I a popular topic all of a sudden? I'm fine with being ignored.
Yeah, okay. I rolled my eyes at his text, leaving the conversation at that.
