I didn't want to leave on the twenty-seventh. Especially since we had an early ass flight to go home. Louis woke me up but looked grumpy himself, which was the only thing that kept me from complaining. He actually  fell into me when we were waiting on Johannah in the entryway, his eyes squeezed shut.

“Why did it have to such an early flight?” Louis mumbled. I shrugged and kissed his forehead before we headed out to the car. He sat in the back seat with me, curled into my side. “I'll be more awake soon,” he mumbled quietly, like he was apologizing.

“You're fine, baby,” I mumbled. “You're allowed to be tired at four in the morning.”

Louis nodded and let his eyes close. It was a decent distance to the airport and in no time at all, Louis had fallen back asleep.

“Poor Louis,” I whispered, kissing his head. I held one of his hands and kissed the top of it.

“He's horrible when he's tired,” Johannah commented, looking at me through the rear view mirror for a second, then looking back to the road.

“Oh yeah, especially when you have to wake him up for something like this,” I agreed. “A lot of the time he's not happy until he's had tea or coffee.”

She laughed and nodded. “Sometimes I miss taking care of him.”

I smiled at Louis, who let out a small snore. “I'm glad I get to now.”

When we were getting out at the airport, Louis hugged his mom tightly. I was standing back, so I didn’t hear what they were saying, but I’m sure something about me was said because Louis looked back at me for a split second before looking back at his mom and nodding.

Johannah motioned me closer, then pulled me into a hug. “It was lovely having you over. You're more than welcome anytime.”

I smiled and hugged her back just as tightly as she had me. “Thank you. I'll definitely be back.”

Louis was grumpy until we stopped at the Starbucks inside the airport and got him some tea and I got a smoothie and we sat down together. Louis curled into me and yawned. He still looked exhausted. “I'm so not ready to be up. And it's gonna be like eight when we get back, then there's the drive and-”

“Go back to sleep, Lou. Our flight doesn't get called for another forty minutes.”

“You'll be bored and alone,” he argued, blowing on his tea before taking a drink.

“How many times have I fallen asleep on you? I think this one time it’s allowed.” I brushed hair from his face. “I'll survive, Louis. Get some sleep.”

Louis gave in and rested his head on my lap. I played with his hair while reading a book on my phone. It only took him about five minutes before Louis was asleep again, making me chuckle. I kept playing with his hair while reading, changing the way I ran my hands through his hair every once in a while.

After about forty-five minutes our flight was called, so I shook his shoulder gently. “Baby, time to go.”

Louis sat up and rubbed his face, then we made our way over to the terminal. We sat down in our seats when we got to the plane and Louis leaned on my shoulder. “What movie do we want to watch?”

“Any one's fine with me.” He nodded and scrolled through the list until he found one he wanted to watch and we shared the headphones.

Louis leaned on my shoulder and grabbed my hand. “I'm sorry I'm so tired,” he mumbled quietly.

“It's fine, Lou. You have to drive, you can sleep.” I kissed his hand and kept it against my lips for a few seconds.

“You don't like flying,” Louis said tiredly. “I should be worried about you.”

“I’m fine, love,” I assured him. “It's not that bad now.”

“Are you sure?”

I nodded. “I'm sure, baby.” I kissed his head and put my head on top of his. “Get some rest.”
