By the time we got there, I had stopped crying, but I wasn't saying anything. I was scared to go back. I shouldn't be scared to go to my house. At the same time, I was scared to let Louis see what happened. He was protective, and he wouldn't think about how it could expose our relationship. He would care about the fact my stepfather choked me to the point I almost passed out. He would be more worried about my wellbeing.

He got out and walked around to my side, opening the door, grabbing my hand and pulling me to my feet. I buried my face into his chest so he wouldn't see either the red mark or the start of the bruise on my chin. I didn't know which was there, but they're both guaranteed to bruise.

Louis wrapped his arms around my fully as soon as we were inside. I sniffled and had to try not to start crying again.

“What happened?” He whispered into my hair.

I shook my head and took a deep breath. “I was being stupid. If I would have stayed-”

Louis pulled me back, instantly inspecting my neck when my voice came out rough. “What the fuck did he do?” He growled, his eyes moving between my jaw and throat.

I closed my eyes, tears filling them. “I never want to go back,” I whispered. He pulled me back to his chest, one of his hands tangling into the nape of my hair. “I yelled at them to stop, then I kept yelling and my dad didn't like it-”

A sob cut me off, which hurt my throat. I winced and I clung to Louis like my life depended on it. Louis was the only thing keeping me sane at that point.

“I’m going to kill him,” Louis said, his fingers tightening in my hair as well as his arm that was around me. “I can't believe he would do that to you. I swear to God if I ever see him-”

“Louis, he's not worth it,” I said horsley. “Don't, please.”

He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. When he opened them he touched my cheek lightly. “You should go to the hospital because of your throat,” he said in a softer tone.

I shook my head. “Just want you.” He sighed but didn't argue it any further. Louis untangled his fingers and moved his hands to my waist. Then he picked me up, so I moved my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist, holding tightly. “Thank you,” I whispered.

He kissed my neck and then gently set me onto the bed. I pulled off my shirt and kicked off my pants, then getting under the covers. Louis disappeared into the bathroom for a second, so I watched the door way until he came back out.

He offered me some pain killers and a glass of water, which I gratefully accepted. After that he got in bed behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me to him.

I turned so I was facing him. “I'm sorry about this.”

“You have nothing to be sorry for. Nothing.” He pressed our foreheads together. “I’m sorry that this happened. I knew I should have came and gotten you anyways.”

“I wasn't listening. If I would have stayed out of it, it wouldn't have happened.”

Louis kissed me, his hand resting on my cheek. “It won't happen again. I promise this will never happen again.”

I moved my head to his neck and breathed in deeply. “I don't want to go back.”

“I know, baby, I know. And I won’t let you.”
