Xu Jiashen took Shen Gusi to the most famous five-star hotel in the city.
Shen Gusi had never been to such a place before. He felt uncomfortable from the moment he stepped into the front hall. He took every step carefully, for fear of damaging the floor.
The huge crystal chandelier above is bright and dazzling, the fountain placed in the center is majestic and solemn, the ceiling is like a dome church, and the stained glass windows are imprinted in the last twilight.
The slowly flowing classical music covered up all the noises. There was almost no talking in the restaurant. The only sounds were the crisp sound of red wine glasses colliding and the clinking of knives and forks.
Most of the people eating here are dressed very elegantly, in suits and long skirts, as if they are not eating but having a dinner party.
Shen Gusi couldn't help but look down at his combination of long sleeves and long pants, which really seemed out of place.
As the waiter led them to their seats, Shen Gusi followed behind and gently tugged on Xu Jiashen's sleeve: "Do you really want to eat here? Let's go eat something else."
He was really not suitable for this place and was afraid that he would embarrass Xu Jiashen.
Xu Jiashen turned his head and said to Shen Gusi in a gentle tone he had never used before: "It's okay, the food in this restaurant is delicious, just treat it as an ordinary restaurant and relax a little."
"But..." He couldn't relax. The feeling of "I shouldn't be in a place like this" was too strong, as if he was a countryman coming to the city.
Shen Gusi was still struggling and wanted to say something, but Xu Jiashen interrupted him and said, "I like it here very much."
After Shen Gusi heard him say that, he didn't care whether he liked it or not, he just agreed: "Okay, if you like it, then we'll eat here."
They were brought to the position closest to the window, where they could just see a whole lake outside. On the lake were artificially raised white swans. The afterglow of the setting sun was scattered here and there, like the rendering of brush and ink, or like a scroll of white paper spread out and painted with oil paint.
The colorful lights became reflections, and the warm orange-red turned into stars in Shen Gusi's eyes.
It was such a beautiful scenery he had never seen before that he was immediately captivated by it, unable to hide the light in his eyes. He didn't know whether it came from the scenery or whether it belonged to him.
"Is it beautiful?" Xu Jiashen looked at Shen Gusi who was already immersed in the scenery. His entire face was covered by the setting sun, his hair turned golden in the light, and tenderness overflowed, as if he himself was glowing.
"So beautiful."
Shen Gusi came back to his senses and saw Xu Jiashen staring at him motionlessly.
Was it because I was being too exaggerated and seemed unsophisticated, which made me feel deeply ashamed.
Shen Gusi reflected on his behavior just now. Fearing that he might make Xu Jiashen angry, he apologized, "I'm sorry Shen Shen, I exaggerated a little. I will pay attention."
After saying that, Shen Gusi waited cautiously for Xu Jiashen's reaction, but Xu Jiashen did not show any reaction, nor was he angry. He cut the steak into small pieces for Shen Gusi and brought them to him.
