"I dropped it." Azfar came forward and said holding Iraj's hand in his.

"Oh Azfar dear, don't worry about it just be careful with the glass pieces and move out of that place. You'll get hurt." Her mother's voice changed completely and Iraj looked at him with a sad face.

She went away to call for the floor to be cleaned. Iraj hated how she felt whenever her mother would always treat her like she was never good enough for her. Though she had never paid much attention to her son either her whole life but she did her sweetest self for her son in law. Not ever saying anything that might make him dislike her at any cost.

"Do you want to go home Iraj?" He turned and saw her face towards his.

"You can spend time with baba, I know you want to, he's rarely ever not traveling." She looked away clearing her throat.

"That's true, but then what will I do when I get home and my wife isn't talking to me? Hm?" He moved his face in front of her with a small smirk.

"Then you can go to your favorite place inside the house, your study and spend time there with your favorite things, your project documents." She frowned.

"Do you know my favorite place Iraj?" He held her hand tighter and entwined their fingers.

"Yes, your office." She frowned more.

Azfar chuckled at her response, "Why is my wife upset? What happened to my Iraj?"

"You came here without me, you didn't even call and tell me that you don't want to go for dinner and—"

Azfar's face fell into complete shock and he felt like his mind stopped working for a moment, "I thought you knew, Siraj uncle told me that he informed your mom—" And then he closed his eyes at his stupidity. He had thought she'd get the news about the party being held at the shortest notice before anyone else since she was family, but of course he had forgotten his mother in law never letting his wife be at peace and always making her worry. "Sorry, sorry, I should've come to you first, I just, it was dumb of me to assume things. I'm sorry Iraj."

"It's fine, it doesn't matter now. Anyway." She tried to move her hand out of his but he held it.

"Did I mention you look completely, maddeningly beautiful?" He stepped even closer and Iraj felt her cheeks heating up. There were people around even if not many where they were standing but her husband didn't seem to care.

"You did say I look nice." She bit her lip and blinked.

"That was a poor job at defining my wife's beauty." Iraj could not believe it. He had never said that to her. He had never told her if she looked good. "Iraj—"

"Azfar sweetheart, how are you?" A woman came walking towards them and smiled at Azfar before he could complete his sentence.

They turned their attention towards her but she was only interested in Iraj's husband.
