"Baba, I want you to go to Rehaan bhai, and settle the unsaid things between you both." Iraj sat with her legs crossed on the couch holding her father's hand.
"I'm too ashamed to even meet his eyes if I start to address the matter to him. How can a father face his son after doing something so cruel to his child?" Siraj looked away.
"Please baba." She squeezed his hand softly tilting her face to look at him. She knew her father owed that to her brother, even if Rehaan wouldn't open up to him. Her father had to gather strength to do it no matter what.
He instantly smiled and sighed, "Okay, I will, but can I ask you for a favor in return?"
A rounded pout with narrowed eyes appeared on her face, "Mr Siraj Kazmi, I have a very big heart but I won't forgive you for saying this!" She huffed.
He chuckled hugging her, "Oh alright, alright, don't be upset sweetheart." Then there was a long silence that made her seriously concerned till he spoke again, "Your mother wants to talk to you, would you want to speak to her?"
Uneasiness engulfed her, "Oh. Right. Okay."
"I won't let her say anything you don't want to hear, you can comfortably say no if you don't want to speak to her." He assured her.
"Will you stay?" She looked at him with innocence and fear.
"I will." He replied straightaway.
"Okay." Some relief crept inside her chest.
"Iraj, I love you mera bacha." He kissed her head lovingly.
"I love you too baba." She spoke with the same cheerfulness like she always used to, "So much." Extending her arms on both sides horizontally she indicated like a child.
He wanted to hide his tears and stood up looking around for the kitchen, "Let me get some water for you first." He came back to her and made her drink water from the glass in his hands slowly soothing her head, patting it, "In fact, how about we go out for dinner, all of us. Let's have your mother talk to you there in everyone's presence."
"Are you sure?" She set the glass aside taking it from him as she finished drinking.
"Of course, come, let's go." Iraj stood up and Siraj placed his arm around her with a steady grip, that made her feel warm and comfortable, she wasn't shaking too much anymore.
They walked out and Siraj told Azfar about the restaurant he wanted to go to so that he could drive in the same direction. Sabeen and Azfar came together as Siraj had taken Iraj with him not bothering to ask his wife to accompany them this time. Sabeen and Azfar were in an awkward situation where they both were completely silent during the car ride.
Iraj placed the order for everyone as neither Sabeen nor Azfar had the opportunity to speak up when Siraj had asked his daughter to tell the waiter about what she wanted to eat and for others too. The waiter soon left and a moment of waiting silence fell in the air.
