"Mama, I want this one." Arzan pointed to a shirt in his father's closet.
Adil pouted immediately with a whine tugging the same shirt hanging from the shelf, "But mama, I wanted that one!"
"Oh my sweetheart," Iraj bent and squeezed her son's cheek, "You can have this one, it's even better." She took out another white polo shirt and gave it to him.
The three of them had been raiding Azfar's closet for his clothes, ready to cause trouble since last ten minutes. The boys would always come to her after breakfast on weekends saying they were bored and Iraj would come up with crazy ideas to get busy with them. Most of which involved making Azfar's life miserable. Actually all of them.
Their routine involved going to school on weekdays and Azfar would make them do their homework while Iraj would make them watch cartoons with her. There was strict rule on candies now in the house. Not more than one in two days was to be taken from the candy jars and even Iraj never tried to go against it. On weekends they would always visit the amusement park, the four of them together and Azfar would take them shopping. The only thing that ever made Iraj sad now was when she saw baby clothes and accessories for girls. Shahreen was born a year back and seeing her sister in law dress her daughter up with adorable bunny dresses and hair pins and bands would make her try to convince Azfar for a third child which he would always refuse.
He knew it when the second time they had a boy, it was quite difficult for them to have a girl. The genes from his own family were too strong for having more men in the family and regardless of her persistence, he knew better than to hope for another child. He was content with what he was blessed with and would always remind his wife that they were fortunate to have healthy babies.
They had two sons, Arzan the older one who was six now and Adil the younger one who was four. Both the kids looked exactly like their father. Though they were born after many complications. But their mother wouldn't give up. And since the woman was so intent Azfar had no choice but to comply. The second pregnancy was so unplanned that Azfar couldn't recover the shock when she had told him.
Consequently, Azfar had made sure they would not have to deal with such things again he took preventative measures and made Iraj do it too. The second delivery had almost risked her life, and Iraj after giving birth with such difficulties was more attached to her sons than any regular mother would be.
"What about matching shorts?" Arzan suggested excitedly.
She clapped praising his idea, "You're so smart my baby! Let's get those too!"
"What about me? Am I not smart mama?" Adil asked in his adorable voice.
She kissed his head, "Yes you are! My darling!"
Taking two pairs of white shorts and the shirts they all moved into the room and sat on the floor with paints. Brushing the paint all over their hands the two children pressed their palms all over the clothes with different colors. Apparently it was some YouTube video the boys had seen for making newly styled clothes at home and Iraj had approved the plan to get their father a vibrant outfit without having to spend money. And they were using baby paints instead of acrylic which just made things worse.
