"Who told you to touch this?" He had asked in the most authoritative manner.
"I, I just, I—" She saw everyone around her and didn't know what to say now.
"How many times Iraj, how many times! Have I not told you to stop your practical jokes! Do you think everything and everyone is playing some kind of role in your games that you like to play?" Azfar stepped forward and she stood there unable to even flinch at his tone.
"Because of your carelessness, you've destroyed someone else's hard work of weeks! You can never understand what that is yourself! You've never done work in your entire life, how would you even know what it is for someone to lose their efforts! Did I not tell you to not go around places today and stay inside your room at home! I've had enough of your fun games!" There was not a single sound other than his voice echoing in the massive area.
Iraj felt her breathing shake and tried to use her mouth to breathe, the moment her mouth opened slightly to inhale, her eyes drained all the tears out on her face and she stood there first looking at him whose face was blurred later due to too many tears in her eyes. Azfar's anger died the moment her first tear went down her cheek and he realized what he had said to her, in front of so many people.
Iraj was unable to let everyone see her state and ran from there to some empty room near the pantry of the office. Once inside she cried out loudly, with much force. She was hurting. Azfar had never raised his voice at her and insulted her in front anyone before. Iraj cursed her hands for always ruining everything. Even her mother had never yelled at her in front of others ever in her life. She had never been treated like that and the person she had believed who wasn't capable of doing so had done it. Iraj could not stop her cries, she cried more and more relentlessly.
"Sir, it was actually—" Zara tried to speak bringing courage into her tongue but Azfar had turned and left to look for his wife instead of listening to anyone.
He couldn't believe himself what he had done. Azfar checked most of the isolated office chambers but she wasn't there, till he went to the kitchen side and heard a mellowed noise from the storage room near the pantry. He open the door and saw his wife's back who was crying out loud which was terrifying enough for him feel his legs go numb.
She was crying. Because of him. He felt so much pressure on his chest, he couldn't breathe till he finally spoke, "Iraj."
The voice made her turn her head for just one second and halt her breakdown then right after that she turned her head back and resumed her crying in the same way once she saw that it was him standing there.
"Iraj, I, please Iraj." He couldn't bear it and took a few steps towards her.
"Agar baba ko pata hota na aap aisa karengay mere saath toh woh kabhi meri shaadi nahi karwatay aap se!" Her very muffled voice came to finally say something before she went back to crying again.
