"Azfar." They had just returned from the dinner into the bedroom, and Iraj was seemingly ready to bombard her anger at him.
She had been silent the whole time during the dinner and had tried to not argue when Azfar had very possessively taken her with him back in his car when she was supposed to go with Mehran. They both had not even discussed the things about her business that they had decided to during the rendezvous and it was all because Azfar had interfered with his sudden growing interest in his wife now. She didn't want to say anything in front of Mehran and cause a scene.
"Yes jaan?" He took off his jacket and threw it over the couch.
"Why did you follow us there! Did I not ask you clearly before leaving if you could trust me to go with him alone or not!" Her voice raised in the most unlikely way of her usual manner of speaking sending Azfar into a state of alarm.
"No, no, jaan, it wasn't like that—"
"Stop lying to my face now! Everything you did and said there made it very clear to me that you can never change!" She was standing few steps away from him so he moved closer trying to hold her before she would trigger her tremors.
"Jaan calm down, you'll worsen your health, don't yell like that, please." His hands touched her face but she jerked them away at once.
"I will yell! I will!" She was panting when she paused for a moment, "Isn't it so easy for you to just go ahead and shame me like that! You can do whatever you want but I can't sit and talk to a man because you can easily doubt me!" As tears came down her eyes he felt guilt rising up his chest.
He wrapped his arms around her back to hug her, "I didn't doubt you for a second meri jaan, that can never—"
Almost about to give in she shifted away from him suddenly, "Then why did you follow us! Why!"
"I don't like him. I am jealous of him." He openly admitted.
The unexpected response made her stare at him with misery and repulsion, "You don't have the rights to be jealous of anyone in my life!"
Unbuttoning his collar in anger he fisted his hands feeling furious now, "I love you! I can't tolerate him sticking around you when I know that he has feelings for my wife!"
Floods of tears ran down her face as she recalled how ironic it was that he had been doing exactly what he opposed to since the beginning of their marriage, "Was I not your wife when you used to leave me alone and go for dinners with the women who had feelings for you! Why doesn't anything apply to you!"
He was dumbfounded, absolutely clueless as his anger halted, "Me?"
Stressing on her slow nods she pressed her lips together blinking her tears, "Don't pretend like you know nothing! You knew very well that Resham was in love with you! I never followed you both or tried to doubt you Azfar! You used to leave me by myself when I would have waited the whole day for you to come home!"
