Y/n's pov:

It has been a couple of hours since we have returned back to my apartment and all of those were spent catching up and countless tears which were impossible to stop from my parents and I.

Currently Hailee left the living room where we all sat to read Jade to sleep, while I was left with my parents both of them so happy to see me.

"How long have you and Hailee been together?" My mum asks, as if she's been waiting for Hailee to leave the room.

"Around 5 months." I respond. "We've knows each other for around 6 tho." I take a sip of my water before returning the glass back on the table.

"She treat you well?" My dad asks, shifting in his seat, ready to jump out if I respond with no.

"Yes, dad she does." I say with a smile. "She's the best girlfriend anyone could ever wish for." My mom meets my eyes as if she doesn't believe me. I sigh knowing I said the same things when they first met Jake. "She's not like him. Nothing like him in fact." I clarify, beggining to fidget with my fingers. "You have nothing to worry about."

"You sure honey?" My mum asks reaching over a hand and placing it on mine making my eyes fly uo to meet hers.

"I'm sure mama. I would never go through anything like that again." I smile. "Hailee treats me like I'm the queen of the universe and the way she interacts with Jade just solidifies what I already know; she's one of the kindest people I ever met." The smile never fades from my face as I describe Hailee. I look over at my dad who has a huge grin on his face.

"We saw how she interacts with Jade." He says. "She seems like a really good partner and a really good mother."

"She is dad." I smile.

"You're really in love with her aren't you sweetheart?" My mum asks with a smile on her face while I nod, looking down to hude the blush on my face. "I'm so glad honey. You deserve her and more."

Hailee walks back into the living room and we fall silent. The brunette looks at us a smile on her face as always before she says "Am I interrupting something?" She asks and we all shake our heads. "Okay." She nods, taking a seat next to me.

"Jade asleep?" I ask.

"No she's out saving the city." She sarcastically replies making all three of us laugh. "Yes my love she's asleep." Hailee responds this time seriously and I smile.

"Thank you." I say.

"Shush." She murmurs.

"So Hailee," my dad clears his throat and we all look at him. "How's Hawkeye coming along?"

"Very good sir." Hailee's eyes light up as she gets to talk about her job which is one of her favourite things to do. "We should be wrapping up around next month or so."

"That's wonderful." The man responds. "Are you staying in New York?"

"Oh, for sure sir." Hailee responds as if it is an obvious answer. "I love the city and people here." She adds glancing at me. I giggle leaning my head against her shoulder. The brunette takes one of my hands into her own and caresses my hand.

"How did you two meet?" My mum is the next to ask a question. Both Hailee and I giggle before she looks down at me.

"You wanna tell the story baby?" She asks and I nod. "Go on then."

"I spilled coffee on her." I blantly saying making everyone in the room burst out into laughter.

"You were always clumsy Y/n/n." The woman opposite me says and I smile at the nickname someone hasn't called me in years. "So what you spill coffee on her and she falls in love?" Hailee lets out a little laugh at my moms statement.

"Pretty much ma'am." She responds.

"I did buy her a coffee after." I say.

"Such a gentleman." My dad smiles.

"Well you two, we should get going." My mum says standing up from the couch, all of us follow after her, my dad immediately going to stand next to my mum protectively towering over her.

"Stop by my work tomorrow, I'll send you the address." I say and my mum nods.

"Sir, if you would like you could come see the set of Hawkeye." Hailee offers to my father as she knows he's a massive marvel nerd.

"Really?" His eyes light up but he tries to contain his excitement.

"Of course." Hailee smiles.

"Yeah that'd be great." He nods.

We all say our goodbyes and as the door clicks closed from the other side, Hailee let's out a massive sigh of relief making me chuckle.

"You alright there?" I ask.

"That was scary." She dramatically places a hand over her chest while pretending to catch her breath.

"Dumbass." I say, while picking up a glass from the table to take it to the kitchen, however when Hailee unexpectedly slithers her hands around my waist I drop the glass making it shatter on the floor.

Instant panic fills my eyes as I look at the shattered glass on the floor. "Shit! I'm sorey lee- I'm so sor-" I crouch down to pick up the glass, tears pooling in my eyes but before I can reach any glass Hailee is crouched at eye level with me taking my hands into hers so I don't cut them on glass.

"Baby hey, look at me." I do as she says neeting her eyes, while a couple of tears slip from mine. "My love it was an accident it's okay. Accidents happen baby it wasn't your fault." She speaks in a soft, comforting tone, releasing one of my hands to brush the tears on my cheeks. "You're okay. I'm not mad." She reassures and I take a deep breath closing my eyes for a second and relaxing at her soft touch.

"Thank you." I open my eyes, sniffling and offering a faint smile to Hailee.

"Anything for you." She smiles. "Why don't you go take a nice shower and get ready for bed while I clean all of this up huh?"

"You sure? I-" I stutter shocked by her kind offer.

"Of course I am sure baby." She cuts off my sentence, placing a soft and light kiss on my lips. "Go shower I got this."

"Okay. I love you." I say as I get up, Hailee following me.

"I love you too baby." She place another kiss on my lips before I turn around to go to the bathroom.

As I walk all I can think of is her soft and caring reaction to when that glass dropped. No yelling, no insults absolutely nothing except pure care and compassion.

Hailee's showing me what a healthy relationship looks like and it takes me aback every time I realise some things I categorised as normal are actually not. Such as getting yelled at for dropping a glass. None of that is normal and without Hailee who knows what other things I would categorise as normal and that could have led me down a very bad path of relationships of men exactly like Jake.
