Chapter 47: A New Path of Leadership

After the exam, nerves weighed heavily on me. Ichinose and I were both anxious about the results, knowing how much they could determine our future in the student council. That evening, we found a quiet spot to talk.

"Whoever ends up as president, the other will have her back," Ichinose offered with a warm smile, extending her hand.

I nodded, shaking her hand firmly. "I agree. We'll support each other no matter what."

Three days passed in a haze of waiting, and then the results were posted. To my surprise, I'd scored higher than Ichinose. I stared at the screen, feeling shock wash over me.

"Horikita!" Haruka, Kei, and Kushida called, rushing up to me with smiles. They hugged me, their happiness infectious.

"You did it!" Kei grinned, while hugging me.

When I finally made my way to the student council room, Nagumo awaited with a composed expression. "Suzune, congratulations," he announced. "You'll be the next student council president."

I took a deep breath, processing the weight of his words. Then Nagumo continued, "I also want you to recruit a second-year and a first-year student to join as your council supporters."

I knew immediately who I wanted. "Kushida?" I approched her.

She hesitated but eventually nodded. "I'll do my best," she said, a flicker of excitement in her eyes.

We then headed out to find a capable first-year student. Just as we were discussing our options, Ichika suddenly appeared from behind us, scaring Kushida and then hold my hands for congratulating me. "Horikita-senpai! President, huh? Can I join the council too?"

I chuckled, shaking my head. "Ichika, I think we'd need someone a bit less... playful."

Ichika pouted, but Nanase, who had been observing nearby, approached. "Horikita-senpai, may I join? I'd like to help if I can."

She had a sincere expression, and her determination impressed me. I agreed, "I'd be glad to have you, Nanase."

With Kushida and Nanase as my supporters, I presented them to Nagumo, who approved our selections. "You're ready, Suzune," he said, giving a final nod before stepping down from his role.

The next day, I walked into the student council room, where Nagumo guided me to the president's chair. I felt a twinge of nervousness, hesitating.

Ichinose, now the vice president, placed a supportive hand on my shoulder. "You'll be amazing, Horikita," she said, her voice full of genuine confidence.

Encouraged, I took my seat, looking around at my friends. Kushida and Nanase stood by my both sides, smiling and Ichinose gave me a proud, approving nod. Nagumo clapped, congratulating us all on this new chapter.

And with that, the weight of responsibility, but also pride, settled over me, knowing I had not only friends by my side but a future to shape.
