Tobin's POV;
"Flight 315 from Paris to Portland International is now boarding at Gate 27," A voice beckons.
Tobin's eyes flutter open slowly at first, but widen quickly at the realization that, that's her flight. She's going home.
Tobin decided to play in Paris during the off season. She wanted to expand her range of skill & simply improve as a player. Leaving was hard for the midfielder at first, but she's thankful she went and gained this tremendous opportunity. But now it's crunch time. She's ready to get back with the National Team, and show the coaching staff how she's improved. The World Cup is coming up in about 9 months, and camps are starting up soon. Memories rush back to her from the 2012 Olympics & the 2011 World Cup. From hotel shenanigans, to brutal work out sessions, to pk's, to rising and falling tensions, to blue.
"Blue" Tobin whispers quietly, as she stands up from the seat she was in, gathering her carry on.
Tobin was excited for everything to come when she arrived back home. But she would be lying if she said she wasn't most excited to see those ocean eyes.
She hands her ticket to the flight attendant as she wishes her safe travels in French, (Tobin never quite mastered, continuously saying "wee" no matter what was said to her). But that didn't matter now.
She found her seat, and sat down. Immediately pulling out her headphones & plugging them into her iPod. She puts it on shuffle and the first song that plays is, "On My Way" by Drake. A small smile creeps on Tobin's face as she realizes how fitting the song is to her circumstances.
"The clock that you've been watching has been stopping
He makes you wait
What kind of man does that to a girl he loves?
If you just give tonight to me
I promise my hands will say
They'll sayLess than a minute, take your clothes off
We about to start no false alarm
Even though the traffic downtown don't show no mercy
Oh, oh think about the last time I came through
Had something more than a gift for you
And I ain't only fuck you like that on your birthday
Oh, oh baby I just landed
'Bout to get my bags in
All I need's an address and I'm on my way.Don't fall asleep
Yes I see you calling me
Promise it's worth waiting for
Cause I'm on my way..."The moment Drake's voice floods her ears with the sensual lyrics, her mind can't help but wonder to thoughts of the younger striker waiting for her across the ocean. She grins for a moment, picturing Alex's slim and toned figure, paired with her bright smile and long brown locks lying ever so gently over her shoulders. And her eyes, God, Tobin could get lost in those eyes.
"What are you doing?" Tobin whispers to herself, shaking her head & skipping the rest of the song.
Alex was her friend, and Alex was definitely taken. Tobin's feelings for Alex were nothing but strong friendly feelings. Friends think about their other friends bodies, and smile, and ocean eyes? Right?
Tobin lets out a relieved sigh. And slowly closes her eyes again. She checks her phone one last time before the flight attendants ask them to turn them off. And those butterflies that just left, return quickly as she reads her screen.
Alex: Are you as nervous/excited to see me, as I am to see you?
Tobin knows she's grinning like an idiot, and she glances over at the person next to her hoping they don't see. Thankfully their eyes are closed and they have headphones on.
Her attention returns to her phone screen as she begins to type back.
Tobin: I'm definitely more nervous/excited to see you, than you are to see me.
She replies, the smile still lingering on her lips. She switches her phone off and sets it in her bag next to her feet. She looks around realizing the plane is moving, and she must have been so distracted by a certain strikers message that she missed the flight attendants rules. Sleep slowly takes over her eyes and she drifts off peacefully, knowing who's waiting for her when she wakes up.
